  1. Just going to mention that the Earth has been around for a few billion years, and so when people panic over a weather trend that has been occuring for at most a few hundred years it's rather debateable whether or not that actually qualifies as an actually significant period of time. I'm not trying to say that climate change doesn't exist or that we contribute, or that moving away from fossil fuels isn't prudent in and of itself, but contrary to popular belief the science here is complicated.

  2. Thank God there is no potential for global warming causing extinction. Not even the alarmists believe that. So it's more prudent to use the money to raise up the poor than it is to tax the hell out of everyone to possibly change the temperature of the Earth one degree.

  3. In that case, you'd be better off concentrating on building an ablation laser capable of dealing with asteroids, since there's no way the expected changes would be severe enough to wipe out the entirety of a global species with the technology to adapt effectively to its local environment. People may well die, species will go extinct, but an average temperature rise of a few degrees would not be the main cause of our extinction.

  4. Science that is flexible in its doctrine and capable of being wrong. Besides which, the evidence (in terms of atomic decay etc) has itself been proven experimentally and is fundamental to our understanding of physics. Show me the giant dome that gives us the repeatable data that shows the degree to which CO2 alters the climate and I'll reduce my skepticism. Computer models are not enough-the results are only as good as the calculations you tell them to do.
Btw, people thought the earth was flat

  5. That's exactly what it is in factual terms. You can argue all you like about whether or not the root cause is something to we have a direct effect on (again, not taking anything more than a skeptical position until I'm shown repeatable experimental data instead of a computer model), or what the consequences will be if the trend continues, but it is by definition a trend. And not to be petty, but taking an isolated instance (in geographic terms) is exactly what this clip mocks.

  6. Climate models that make accurate predictions, like the current ones, are good enough.

Either you accept the validity of the scientific method, in which case you must accept the overwhelming scientific consensus and agree that the Earth is warming, that it's our fault and that we need to do something soon.

Or you do not accept the validity of the scientific method in which case you should be ignored when scientific matters are being discussed.

  7. Not really… you think that we should just have decided the Higgs Boson existed because it made the calculations work without any other evidence for it? This would probably cost less than the stuff at CERN, too.
When did the scientific method become agreeing with the majority view? The whole point is that it should be judged on the EVIDENCE, or we'd still think the sun goes around the Earth. I'm not denying that some measures are prudent, but I think it is your understanding that is suspect.

  8. Hey deniers.  It's cool that you disagree with over 90% of climate scientists.  It's your right.  Just stop trying to pretend you believe in science, because you don't.  Take your place with white supremacists, that think that humans have different species, or young earth creationists, that believe that someone created the earth 6000 years ago.  You have the right to your opinion, just acknowledge that you think you know better than scientists in the field, because, uh, magic and blogs, or something.

  9. I keep hearing that the polar ice caps are melting and the seas are rising. If that's true then why is ocean front property in Florida the 1920's still ocean front property today? It's a scam, that's why!

  10. Topical context in information panel!!! hahah are you all seeing that??? Makes the skit even more funny…. the irony of it … thanks UN… we know you are watching us!!! Im wondering if people get the joke even… British humour…..
