This video features two experts, Linus Bengtsson and Bessie Schwarz, on their work related to using Big Data solutions for Climate Change and Disaster Resistance. Linus, Executive Director of Flowminder Foundation, speaks about Flowminder’s use of mobile operator data to follow population movement after earthquakes, and Bessie, Co-Founder of Cloud to Street, speaks of her work’s harnessing of satellite and social media data to contribute to resilience to floods. Both Linus and Bessie were key contributors to Data-Pop Alliance’s Synthesis Report on Big Data for Climate Change and Disaster Resilience, with support from the Department for International Development.
