  1. Quote- and datamining is the bread and butter of climate denial. Take quotes out of context or just show a portion of the data or a graph so it looks like it suits your claims. It's scary how effective it is, because they know that the vast majority of readers are never gonna check the sources. I rec

  2. Note on Roundup: So even if occasional use posed little risk to humans, which, I'm not using that shit or letting it near my pets.
It DECIMATES the soil ecology. One application can kill something like 40% of the soil microbes. The complexity of soil food webs/interaction with plants is something that is still in early stages of research. There has been some, but there is still soooo much more work to do. This stuff kills the soil, leaving you with dirt that you then have to fertilize with a synthetic fertilizer, which runs offs and causes issues in water ways and also makes it so plants reduce their interaction with whatever microbes are left in the soil so those networks are damaged and on and on.
Don't use that shit. Weeds are fine. And if you really need to get rid off something, try boiling water, or vingear. Or a blowtorch.

  3. Years too late for this, but when you brought up Patrick Moore, my mind immediately flashed to the lovely bloke who did The Sky at Night' on telly for literal decades and sometimes popped up in episodes of 'The Goodies' being hilarious. I didn't realise he was Sir Patrick Moore and the other one was Dr. Patrick Moore.

  4. A sociologist, mathematician and physicist are visiting HBomb in Great Britain.
During their travels the see a herd of sheep with a single black one.
Sociologist: From the existence of that black sheep we can assume that there are black sheep in GB.
Physicist: Actually we can only say there's at least one black sheep in GB.
Mathematician: Well, to be really accurate we can only say that there's at least one sheep in GB which is black on at least one side.

  5. Related to about the 20-minute mark. Skyrim Horses could possibly be predators. They have forward facing eyes, and while that's not damning evidence, it is evidence.

  6. 22:42 Here's something people can personally do: Don't have kids. If you've already had kids, stop there. Nothing you can possibly do over the rest of your life will contribute more to climate change than adding a whole entire human being to the world.

  7. settled science is oxymoronic. If you set out on an argument by dimissing two major parts of the argumemt as not up for debate because you don't believe them to be valid, then you've lost the argument already. There are reputable scientists that debate the effects of CO2 and who question human cause of climate change.
Not even a minute in and I feel like I can't trust a word you say, because if you know the argument then you would know these things to be true. by downplaying or dismissing it I'm left thinking that you can't argue against the other view.

I think climate change is a ominously banal phrase. it seems to suggest that the natural order is a planet whos climate is and has always been unchanging; when in reality, as we all know, climate has changed from extreme to extreme since before humans existed. So I feel that the burden of proof on human caused climate change is quite high, especially considering that we don't actually know CO2 is responsible for higher temps. There is a correlation between the rise of CO2 and increase in temperature BUT it has been dpeculated that the melting of ice which has CO2 trapped inside might be to blame for this correlation.
Lastly, a rise in temperature is not necessarily a bad thing, nor is CO2.

  8. my dad tried to convince me of the "ice sheets are growing thing" just recently. luckily i remembered (parts of) this 5 year old video and was able to debunk his claims without much difficulty. sadly, he did not believe me and urged me to "do my own research". the doubtlessly saddest part of the story is that HE HAS A PHD IN FUCKING PHYSICS

  9. seeing what's happening in the US at the moment (with Helene and Milton ravaging Florida and co), the "Aquaman" part is playing on a loop whenever I hear more news about the hurricanes…

  10. I don't care, people make it sound so apocalyptic when it isn't earth 300 million years ago was like 50 degree average. sure it will make living harder but that is because you are poor. Just don't be poor. I support Republican, make money to turn on AC 24/7 lol

  11. 27:12 "I'm not sure if people have noticed, but this isn't actually literally happening to the planet? The earth isn't actually on fire."

Nervous laughter from 2024 in which we've seen the greatest fires that have happened in North America since this video was released.
You wanna try that line again, Harris? Because from where I'm sitting, it's preeeeeeeeeeetty frickin' close to being on fire.

  12. Say all this and then at the end of the video eat Nutella. Which has cow’s milk in. Which comes from the dairy industry. A massive cause of climate change. I know it’s an old video but, um, 🐄
