Environmental activists Greta Thunberg and George Monbiot have helped produce a short film highlighting the need to protect, restore and use nature to tackle the climate crisis. Living ecosystems like forests, mangroves, swamps and seabeds can pull enormous quantities of carbon from the air and store them safely, but natural climate solutions currently receive only 2% of the funding spent on cutting emissions. The film’s director, Tom Mustill of Gripping Films, said: ‘We tried to make the film have the tiniest environmental impact possible. We took trains to Sweden to interview Greta, charged our hybrid car at George’s house, used green energy to power the edit and recycled archive footage rather than shooting new.’

They do realize we need carbon dioxide in the air in order to support the trees and foliage? And that CO2 makes up about 0.04%? Nature would flourish with more CO2, less storms would occur with warmer temps and less natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes. We cannot control plate tectonics I get it, but there is more than just the co2. Water vapor is another greenhouse gas that is more prevalent in the atmosphere, yet we need it to live.

More trees are growing and bigger and healthier because of the increased CO2 in the atmosphere. Fact. 50% of a trees mass is carbon, which comes from CO2.
Most people don't even realise our best solution to healing nature is by using it, in a similar way to how antivenom for a snake bite is made from the venom itself. Brilliant video as always on the importance of urgent and widespread action on tackling the capitalism-driven environmental crisis.
