(20 Jan 2020) A team of scientists set up an Arctic Basecamp on Monday in Davos – the Swiss town where this week’s World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting takes place.
Over the four days, Arctic scientists, global business leaders and policymakers will participate in debates and discussion at the basecamp to call on world leaders to take action to avert climate disaster.
A former United Nations top climate official, Christiana Figueres, said the WEF had identified the climate crisis as a key long-term risk confronting the global economy.
A WEF report published last week said catastrophic trends like global warming, climate change and the extinction of animal species would top the Davos agenda.
