What qualities help assure that a community can survive the threat of disaster? The population density of cities leads to inherent vulnerabilities to mass climate disasters: such as single point of failure transit systems and utilities built prior to today’s environmental realities. At the same time the resources of cities offer tremendous potential for preparation and innovation.
As a sociologist, Klinenberg brings insights on how neighborhood dynamics (what he calls “social infrastructure”) can help individuals & communities prepare for extreme weather including flooding and heat waves. He discusses how cities can be wiser and think more long-term by planning traditional infrastructure projects which also enable such social infrastructure in their design.

a) Storms of centuries and street flooding;
Heavy rainstorms (cloud bursts) are highly localized random events usually covering a few square miles at best. if the USA is comprised of 4 million square miles and a typical cloud burst covers about 4 square miles before the cloud drains. The USA should see on average several thousand "record" rainfalls occurring somewhere in the USA in any typical year. The next task it to find one of these thousand of places in which the typically crappy street sewer systems are inadequate to handle one of these typical 100 year rain events and call it "climate change" Now we are all set to financially rape our brainwashed idiots into giving us more of their money and whatever remains of their liberty.
b) Hottest year on "record:"
There are no "records" for the Earths hottest "average" year. In order to record something as a "record" someone, using some kind of instrument, must observe the "instrument" (a stopwatch, a thermometer, a scale, a measuring tape etc.) and then record what the instrument actually indicated. There is no "instrument" yet invented that can take the (completely undefined) "average" temperature of the entire Earth. Instead people who are rewarded financially by crooked politicians use their imaginations to write a simple computer program to "generate" (not record) what they think this undefined "average" might be if such an instrument could ever be created (it can't). Hottest in most cases is defined when the programmers imagination generates an "average" number 0.01 degrees above the last one that was imagined

I love seeing the problems in San Jose because of the large amount of unethical behavior there. Crime is definitely going to slow the change down. Well, it seems the thing we need to do for the poorest people in the world is to help them take advantage of fossil fuels so they can have AC, irrigation, and life-saving advantages of energy. We have done this in other countries like the USA. In the USA, we grew the population in hotter and dryer areas because of the use of fossil fuels. We created AC for cooling and pumps for irrigation and improved everything from healthcare, jobs, technology, and more because we had fossil fuels. I think we are confusing climate change, something it has done for millions of years. We can protect ourselves from the climate if we take advantage of fossil fuels, especially in the poorest populations. Unfortunately, too many have been sucked into a non-problem and are attacking the most helpful resources (fossil fuels) to protect human life. It is inhumane for wealthy countries to keep fossil fuels from the poorest population. We should focus on bringing more energy to the world, and fossil fuels are the ONLY way to do this ASAP. Solar and wind are nowhere close to being able to provide this level of energy to the world. The world has such an abundance of fossil fuels if we keep the academics from destroying our ability to provide them to help the rest of the world. I hear all these catastrophizing alarms, but we don't talk about what we can actually do to manage the climate. Something we have been doing for 200 years using fossil fuels. More people die from cold than heat, but we have shown we can manage this climate challenge with fossil fuels. We can destroy ourselves by keeping ourselves from using fossil fuels, which is the biggest danger. Think about it: if we take fossil fuels away, we all suffer and die. But if we take advantage of them, we all flourish. We all need to stop and really think about what we are doing. This temperature alarmism is so crazy and sad. The world has had a lot more CO2 in the world than we have now, and what was the condition of the world? Well, it was super green, and more plant life. To say the world will collapse in a few years is crazy unless we do it to ourselves because we don't take advantage of fossil fuels. We need to focus on mastering the climate using fossil fuels than taking them away and creating a worldwide disaster due to a lack of life-saving energy. In short, we can either be problem solvers or ignorant sheep.
