Sky News host James Morrow says California is the “progressive nightmare made real” and US President Donald Trump must highlight this every step of the way.
Fellow Sky News host Rita Panahi said it has “just been a disaster in California at the moment,” and that the California Governor Gavin Newsom hasn’t taken any responsibility for what is taking place.
“Not only did it have the massive bushfires, but they’ve had mass blackouts, they’re completely dependent on renewables and it’s not going well,” Ms Panahi said.
“But Gavin Newsom just blames global warming and Donald Trump”.

California Oregon and Washington are suffering. It is appalling is that nobody seems to care at all. This broadcast is offensive to make fun of our governor because he happens to be a Democrat. In my opinion the Australians should be reaching out to us right now because we’re facing what they too had to face with the unbelievable fires they had. California needs to consider its own contribution to climate change and the constant devastating fires. Climate change affects all areas but only California has 3 million acres burn, that is more than all the other 49 states put together, probably In an entire century. The state also has a population of 40 million people, all of whom use the limited water resources, as of course they have to.
They also tend to drive cars as well, even with emission controls that's a lot of air pollution. A photo of LA taken about a month after quarantine showed clean, clear air and blue skies that hadn't been seen in decades. Also a significant amount of California's water resources go to water the huge agribusiness acreage. Where does that water come from? From the rest of the land which is left dry and parched. Does it make sense to produce 40% of the nation's food while the state is a conflagration destroying homes and whole towns?? There are 49 other states that could grow produce. This state needs to wake up and come up with a new plan.
Non-Californians would probably be more suitable as Californians have become inured to the absurdity of the situation and blind to the issues.
