Tree planting and landscape restoration are widely recognised as being part of society’s response to mitigating climate change and delivering on net-zero emission targets. However, creating and restoring forests is far from simple.
Working in partnership with landowners, regional authorities and local communities, University of Leeds researchers are exploring the ability of new and existing woodlands to help achieve net-zero emissions.
During this webinar you’ll hear from Dr Cat Scott on how trees and forests could feature in both local and national plans to achieve net-zero. Whilst woodland creation does not negate the need to cut emissions drastically, trees can play an important role in counter-balancing emissions from hard to decarbonise sectors, such as aviation, farming and certain heavy industries.
Professor Stuart Taberner will chair this event.
