Discover the work of two key projects of FAO in Uganda to promote forest restoration and adoption of clean energy:
1: The Sawlog Production Grant Scheme (SPGS) promotes tree growing by giving grants to tree growers, communities and institutions to reduce their costs of establishing and maintaining forest plantations. Tree growing addresses climate change and reduces tree cutting for firewood and charcoal.
2: Climate Resilient Livelihood Opportunities for Women Economic Empowerment (CRWEE) aims to provide clean, safe and labour-saving energy technologies, influence gender roles and help to reverse the effects of climate change in West Nile and Karamoja regions of Uganda by turning agricultural residue and waste into clean energy.
