Chris Kenny has announced his next Sky News Australia Documentary ‘Going Nuclear: The Clean Energy Debate’, which zeroes in on the net-zero challenge and “dares to ask” if it can be done without nuclear energy.
“It’ll air at 8 pm on Monday, October 25, so just under three weeks away,” Mr Kenny said.
“This is a crucial debate, and it’s a fascinating one.
“I can assure you, going nuclear is not a debate that the world will avoid much longer.”

Thorium cheap safe versatile
Chris..what if the net zero thing was forced upon us by yanks in return for submarines…
We 100% can be net-zero. Just get rid of 100% humans.
"Political parties of all persuasions in most countries around the world along with pressure groups, industry groups, big business, and community organisations, they are all pushing for net zero by 2050. So if we are going to have people pushing this, even signing up to it, don't you think we ought be working out how on earth we can get there?"
NO. Maybe there's a good reason to get there, but simply bowing to pressure or following the crowd are not good reasons.
with impending war with China ,these issues are white noise.
Chris who ?
Thorium would have been cheeper.
Totally safe.
cheerz
Just tell all those going for net zero to lie down and stop producing CO2 …..
Time to ban private jets
Global warming is the biggest con ever foisted on the working man and while we’re at it there is a volcano erupting on La Palma in the Atlantic Ocean pumping out billions of tons of all kinds of gas including co2,it would take hundreds of thousands of years for man to put this much out
no one cares chrome dome
I personally believe zero emissions is simply a pipe dream as for just relying on renewables is a massive joke and as far as going nuclear goes we should have done it decades ago and we should definitely be replacing our old coal fired power stations with nuclear power stations.
just ask the greenies, "What are you going to do when the lights go out."
If Oz wants all electric vehicles (from renewables), they need 1,500 gwh of backup storage energy.
At present Oz only has 10 gwh.
And if Oz wants ALL electric, they need 4,000 gwh.
Cost that into the renewables costs, before saying renewables are economic.
P.
The UK has a brilliant pumped storage plant – Dinorwig.
Trouble is, it was the most expensive power station in the world.
And it only produces 10 gwh (0.5% of the total the UK needs.)
P
A billion here, a billion there, so what. Get back to me when you're talking about real money.
I love how fucked we are:
Right wing – the problem doesn't exist. But if we admitted it exists we would take the right solution.
Left wing – the problem exists. Let's take a wrong solution.
Fuck
So Australia needs about 30GW of electricity. A 1GW plant costs 6B. Means 180B is the price tag for removing every single power plant and building nuclear.
Or you could buy 9hours worth of batteries
Hilarious watching Murdoch and LNP try to micro-pivot towards climate action with shattered credibility on this front having waged war for decades.
It's almost sad to watch.
Mmm, there’s never been a profitable nuclear power station without massive govt subsidies. If the anti subsidy, anti high power price Libs want to build nuclear plants then be prepared to pump in billions in support. Private enterprise isn’t / won’t build them without govt guarantees and massive support. This is why the centre right is talking about them. They would need to do a huge backflip with double twist to go nuclear.
