And it is increasingly having a real-life impact. Just this summer – hundreds of sudden deaths in Canada were linked to a record heatwave; more than 200 people died in floods across Europe and more than 300 deaths were recorded in flash floods in China.
This is a reminder of some of the worst climate events this year and why November’s COP26 climate change conference in Glasgow is so important.

There were so many more extreme weather events this year that went unreported by the world's media, and they've been happening for ages. It's seemed to me that Saudi Arabia's been getting more rain that Ireland for years but I never hear it mentioned at all on the box. I dunno why!
