OCTOBER 14, 2021: Wednesday, October 13 was recognized as International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction. It was aimed at highlighting the importance of effective policies and structures to minimize the impact of natural hazards. Ronald Jackson, Head of the United Nations Development Programme’s Disaster Risk Reduction, Recovery for Building Resilience team based in Switzerland, says getting the language right would be a correct first step in addressing the myriad of complex environmental issues.
