  1. Nothing substantial will ever happen. Money is the root of all the motivation mustered in the elites. Nothing will get done until they become affected by it and by then they will only be interested in protecting themselves. The human race as no ambition to change. To do so would require a complete and total change to our current function.

  2. Waiting until 'we feel it's becoming unsustainable' for the already massively overworked NHS is the very DEFINITION of 'hesitating to act'!! I honestly can't figure out if it's sheer ineptitude on the government's part, or if they genuinely want us all to get Covid so they don't need to worry about paying pensions, benefits etc to a huge sector of poor and vulnerable people because we'll be dead.
I think we're in a world now where it could very well be both. What's absolutely clear is that our government do not give a damn about us.

  3. In relation to nightclub drugging… I have a family member who attended uni / clubs in Cheltenham… many of his friends / flat mates had their drinks spiked in a small number of clubs … bar staff were observed spiking people's drinks – turning their backs on customers to avoid being seen. Other people would then look out for said stumbling students and steal from them. Everyone knew this was happening, including the police, but nothing was done about it.

  4. Hey i really like ur show but would’ve appreciated a content warning before the story on date rape. Turned it off quickly but its still really fucking with me 😂

  5. Javid, I'm a nurse. A few days ago I had 22 acute patients to look after and only one health care assistant to help me. The sickness rate among staff is high, we are all burnt out. I'm thinking about giving up nursing because it is just not doable. I'm having to spend my days off in bed because I'm feeling ill. What do you know about working with no breaks, no water, for 13 pounds per hour in an extremely stressful environment?

  6. The bottom line of all this 'zero carbon policy' thing is, the material resources are there, and the financial resources are most definitively there.

It's just it would piss off the people keeping this government in place to actually distribute the cost fairly, because then they might see their socioeconomic status in jeopardy. For them, saving the world just isn't worth it.

  7. When your example for the UK's complicity in the climate crisis is that COP26 will be hosted in Glasgow and James Watt's father was a slave trader then it is no wonder that the left struggles to be taken seriously.

  8. From the tone of Johnson's pulpit- tapping speech: depend on market forces and technology to sort out the problem. No funding to get the price to drop sooner. Instead splash some money around to be seen to be doing something – however irrelevant – while making sure your mates get the contracts Write a few thousand pages of obfuscation. Finally, blame businesses and the public for not buying heat pumps quickly enough.

  9. SPIKING DRINKS After watching few short news in which they were talking about bar staff as purity of love I exactly raised that question.
A lot of bar staff members are descent people. However psychopaths and sociopaths CONSTITUE 5% OF THE POPULATION. Than there are greedy and other form of dishonest people in society.
So statististcly even behind the bars some of the staff is evel.

  10. Dalia says some excellent things for a society to aspire to be like with regard to its female members – but not how to get there. Aspriations are great but the hard strategies to acheieve them are what's needed.

  11. I got rid of my gas boiler this year (it was hard as most "professionals" laughed at me for not wanting gas). £813 for air-air heat pump for heating/dehumidifyer/aircon. £240 for an electric combi shower unit. £95 for electric taps x2, the downside to these is due to the hard water I have to disconnect the unit and clean them once a month. £400 for electric upgrades. £200 for removal. £1843 to get rid of gas. Granted I have a small space so only needed a single internal unit to do heat and cool the whole space. 5 months on and very happy 🙂

  12. Amazed if people aren't familiar with heat pumps. There are plenty on public buildings – inverted air conditioning, cools the outside, warms the inside.

Not much point with our crap levels of insulation.

  13. Michael, please just wear a mask when you go to public indoor spaces. Surely acting on independent thought and and NOT following the crowd is what Novara is all about. Why you think that just following what the herd are doing is acceptable with mask wearing when it’s in full contradiction of the known health facts – facts you report regularly – is a reasonable position is baffling. I’m pretty sure that isn’t your stance on other points of contention- ‘just do what everyone else is doing’?? So, please lead by example and put a mask on!

  14. Hi Novara team, I love you but I also think you’re failing to cover the climate justice struggle. This speaker from Possible neglected to mention any of the key failings of the government’s net zero strategy – overall it is focused only on technological fixes and relies entirely on market forces plus individual choice for their uptake – it’s not just “something”. As a climate justice activist putting my freedom on the line and a Novara fan, I feel seriously let down by your lack of engagement with the CEE. You seem hot on social justice but that is intrinsically bound up with climate justice. Please get more informed speakers in because the CEE is the greatest threat the world has ever faced.
