Sky News host Chris Kenny says the evidence suggests it’s “just impossible” to reach net zero emissions by 2050 without the use of nuclear power.
“Many experts around the world say that’s impossible, not just in Australia but of course globally,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
“In fact, what people keep overlooking is the International Energy Agency’s report in April-May this year which was its roadmap to 2050.
“It said very clearly that nearly half the emissions reduction ended to get to net zero have to come from technology that doesn’t yet exist in a commercial or a practical way, stuff that’s just in a demonstration or prototype phase.
“The one technology that is proven and reliable and doesn’t produce emissions for electricity is nuclear.”
Mr Kenny’s documentary ‘Going Nuclear: The Clean Energy Debate’ will air on Monday, October 25, at 8pm AEDT on Sky News Australia.

I just wish more people trusted nuclear power. But I can totally understand why people are weary of it, we all saw what happened at Chernobyl and Fukushima. When it does go badly wrong at a nuclear power station, a constant stream of shit starts spraying through the proverbial fan…
That being said, there are far better safety measures in 2021 than there was, say, 30 years ago. And Fukushima only happened because of the incoming tsunami.
Nuclear power is safe, clean, and efficient. It's the only way forward imo.
