Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says he believes the path towards net zero by 2050 will “end in tears” with the kind of skyrocketing power prices which are being experienced in Europe.
“This country’s about to go through the school of hard knocks, starting when the Liddell Power Station starts shutting down within a year’s time,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“That is why I am sticking to my guns for common sense on this issue.
“We will need to pick up the pieces unfortunately in the years to come and I hope I’m there just to fight the good fight to do that.”

The good news out of all this this for me, is that I won't be around by 2050 to see the mess. Mind you we will achieve zero emissions by the time we get the nuke subs, around 2060.
In 10 years time most homes will get their power from solar panels in the daytime and their EV batteries at night. They won't need the grid.
The World is heading for 35 Gigatons of CO2 emissions per year (GtCO2/yr) by 2040.
If we want 2C of global warming we need to have 19 GtCO2/yr by 2040, a 46% reduction.
If we want 1.5C of global warming we need to have 12 GtCO2/yr by 2040, a 66% reduction.
Ignoring global warming will “end in tears”
net zero wind and solar is not going to keep the lights on look at England they tried it it didn't work so Boris is going to go nuclear shouldn't we do the same and go nuclear instead of wasting money on wind and solar that doesn't work
