  1. This all sounds great but unfortunately no one knows how much time we have before irreversible damage overwhelms us. I would love to give countries another hundred years to meet that goal but we only get the opportunity to die once, we don't get to pick and choose when to have a heart attack so everybody must get on board now before we all suffer.

  2. It is wrong to say that "the commitment of the government of India (or of any country) is not to climate change but to the people". If the commitment of any government is to the people of the country, then its commitment must also be to climate change. Climate change affects the people. It affects the quality of life of the people. Unfortunately, it starts by affecting the quality of life of the poorest people of a country and then spreads up the food chain. When poor people are affected by the adverse effects of climate change, they don't even know it is climate change, because they have absolutely no idea that there is such a thing as climate change. The adverse effects of climate change only start being recognised as such only when the more educated and affluent are affected by it and, by then, it is often too late to do anything about it. All that can be done at that stage is to try to prevent things from getting much worse.

  3. I find this kind of opinionated reporting extremely disturbing. India is right in its negotiations with Western countries, considering they are the ones who have put in most of the carbon in the atmosphere and now want developing countries to halt their development process. But, becoming carbon neutral should be more than diplomatic oneupmanship and coming up with snide and sarcastic remarks. As an Indian, I think we must go green and we must treat climate change as an urgency. We must cut down on fossil fuels. This must become a national movement, even if we don't want to commit internationally. We are already suffering because of extreme weather phenomena and extremely poor air quality.

  4. She rightly said it, US & EU are the real climate criminals here as they have been polluting since last 140 years, if they want INDIA to become net zero then they should fund the process.
