Scientists at India’s southeastern coast are looking for ways to reduce India’s carbon footprint – and they’re proposing to do it by farming seaweed. India is the world’s third largest carbon polluter, behind China and the US, and has yet to set a target date for its emissions to reach net zero.
The Gulf of Mannar offers fertile waters for the marine crop. DW reports from Rameswaram.

"world's biggest emitters" white people saying nonsense after having caused the problem over the last century. the lion, the witch and the audacity of this b****.
But the fact is carbon release rate is much higher in US, and China . And when it comes to carbon emissions India is much lower than so called developed countries. 🙏
.
India shows simple ,natural and less expensive solutions to the world to reduce carbon emissions to zero and even produce lot of oxygen.Seaweed is useful to produce medicines ..great news.
If it produces enough O2 then why the water looks so muddy and dead. More O2 means more fish and coral, right!
Europe don't lecture us do something concrete yourself. EU is the single largest pollutor from century back to till date. India is doing more than enough
Climate politics is injustice against developing countries who historically aren't responsible for the global catastrophe but are being asked to foot the bill while the developed countries themselves not honoring their own promise of providing $100 billion funding for mitigation since 2009
India is clearly leading world in fight to climate change 🙌
I guess our government should make more policies to encourage such farming technique.
Making no difference ; India said it won't achieve carbon neutral till 2070 which is half a century from now !
Anything besides cutting emissions, right? 🙄
Well just looking this report this week after the other big news about India 😂
Show the correct map of india
Indias map is wrongly showed i will report this video and report this channel
Am I dreaming? A positive article on India from DW..
HOW DID IT HAPPENED
The best vegetarian foods come from India. It really is the Garden of Eden to me. Thank you hard working, kind, clean, humble, respectful people!
Instead of wasting 1 trillion USD in Afghanistan…if they had spend it on financing developing countries like India to develop renewable energy sources…it would have been better for the world. Just the amount of ammunition that the US troops left in Afghanistan which was worth billions of Dollars was enough to finance most of these climate actions. Yes I know it's US taxpayers money… but it would have been better spend elsewhere after Osama was killed a decade earlier.
India's per capita footprint is way less than developed countries
Great job India 👍👍
Western nations always target India but never china for climate change.
Ram Setu bridge 🙏🏽
I dont know who's reading this.. but I'm doing my part whatever I can..
Heres something i do..
I collect seeds of flower trees n any type tree, n go to mountainous region or any place that can keep the tree alive until it lives on it's own. N just put or spread seeds there.. later nature takes care of that.
Those sea weeds…. Looks delicious just add onions & vinegar. & If you have fish all the more. (,,•́ . •̀,,)
It's not scientist- it's Indian scientist who are looking to decrease carbon foot print… World is not bothered about India's carbon footprint or their own …. Now Europe is suffering intense heat.. now Europe will think about climate change
