Global attempts are being made to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. This means balancing out the amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced with the amount removed from the atmosphere.
But, some scientists and climate activists say a net zero target is not enough, and that while removing carbon from the atmosphere through methods like planting trees and capturing carbon is good, much more needs to be done to prevent carbon being released in the first place.
