India has vowed to be net zero by 2070 – two decades after the timeline set by global scientists.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi defended the target at the COP26 climate talks.
He said India has stuck to its climate pledges, and that the country was responsible for only five per cent of global emissions.
Mr Modi told the conference of world leaders India would increase renewable energy to 50 per cent by 2030.

I thought India wasn't going to attend… while China has already committed to NET ZERO 2060. Meanwhile… the QUEEN of AUSTRALIA opened the COP26 talks Via video link. *Can't wait for Sky/Fox to report that* and her impassioned call for action.
This is both a bad idea and an empty political promise. What countries need is efficient use of energy resources, and the total cost should include production and waste. Solar panels are messy to produce and so are batteries. And nuclear is not great when once again you count ALL the costs, like the waste and pollution, not just at the point of electrical generation.
That’s when you know it is all a bunch of hogwash…I thought we were at the last hour and going to be dead in 12 years (that was 2 years ago). When the “elites” stop using their private jets and living on islands or on the coastlines then I may be a wee bit more receptive….until then, nope.
