Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi surprised the United Nations climate change conference (COP26) on November 1, 2021, with a promise that his country will reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. But phasing out coal is not so simple, especially for developing countries like India. About 4 million people were employed in the coal industry in 2021, according to the Brookings Institution think tank. The world’s “dirtiest” fossil fuel is also used to generate more than 70 per cent of the country’s energy, and part of the reason India is the third largest carbon emitter in the world after China and the US.

The net 2070 pledge shouldn't have surprised anyone. Democratic governments tend to think only 4 years ahead.
so.. worlds largest polluter is talking about other countries pollution!!!!
Typical Chinese thing to do
Chinese complaining about coal when china`s dependence on coal is 56%of its entire grid
Yeah it's very easy for China to quit coal, that's why people are living in a blackout and Winnie the pooh has asked people to stock food items.
Democracy don't give result
If india have communism so we can archive in 2050 bcz per capita we are low co2 producer as compare to china we just need to plant tree and change diet of cow we have 30 million cow wait india will we net zero till 2070

China is the only country that is blocking India's membership in NSG. If you really care that India should achieve its net zero emission target than don't block our path towards green energy.
That's a joke, India
and Russia
,
CHINA are biggest POLLUTERS……
Give us parts from $ 100bn GCF then definitely we will switch to green energies soon

Just preaching a developing or poor countries to shun all their dependence and believing they will obey is foolishness, it takes time
This is why we will never get CO2 under control in our lifetimes….let alone by 2030. Just a dream thanks to environmentalists going after Nuclear.
