  1. We need time and resources to transition to a greener economy. 2070 is a feasible target. It is not our prerogative when millions of indians still do not have 24/7 electricity connection.

Why do we have to pay for the privilege of others ?

  3. Modi is a pathological liar.
BJP/Modi blindly following the American model (Reaganomics?) in economic policy has destroyed Indian economy. America is able to survive its destructive model due to US dollar being the benchmark currency of the world backed by Arab oil, not gold since 1972. Kawa chalne gaya hans ke chaal to vo apni chaal bhi bhul gaya.

  4. Jairam Ramesh, great , knowledgeable and SME.

Just that he need to be a better listener, always starting before the host even completes her questions.
    Great hear…
    👍👍👍

  5. The point made which is very significant is that the PM has given distant targets in time. The Govt needs to take a practical approach based on what action the Govt would be in shorter time frames. 2030 and 2070 are good announcements for world consumption. But the actions will involve States on domestic generation of inputs – lithium, coal, solar cells etc. Two of the largest business enterprises have big plans which is based on the patronage of the Govt which is today there. Also as Ramesh has stressed it is not just solar power but laws governing infrastructure, deforestation etc etc are vital issues. We need. Comprehensive and sustained plan of present and future Govts. For example, both in Odissa and Chattisgarh which are rich in mineral resources, we are experiencing several bottlenecks in our environmental policies

  6. Shameless congress fellows do not mind eating their own words like they did for COVID vaccine, GST,Petrol price and ofcourse they are responsible only for a family than the country. They are blindly anti Modi. Nation does not matter to the looters.

  7. A commitment does not necessarily mean that it is cast in stone. This target date may get preponed, in case the climate crisis deteriorates. India and China will both remain under the microscope and tremendous pressure will be put on them to revise those targets and to see palpable results about greater production of cleaner electricity and transition to renewable energy.

  8. Mr Ramesh is taking nonsense as he did with Chai wala comment, which lost Congress power at the centre. The commitment for net zero is by countries not by individuals who will not be there according to Mr RAMESH! If you look at the 2030 target by Europeans it is impossible to achieve, as no consultation with people of these countries were taken- the cost of living in these countries plus the committed progress to stone age will cause a revolt of plebs. The alarmist left wants to conquer the political power with the ecological alarmists stance.Congress has to publish the agreement with CCP of China to prove that, they have not bartered away the country by promising China there will not be any progress under its rule and China can be world power

  9. In almost all of the climate summits, heads of the states make big talks and a bunch of empty promises that are never fulfilled or capable of being fulfilled. Take for instance, in Glasgow summit, our PM declared that by 2030 India will generate 450 GW of renewable energy. As of now, we have a capacity of 50GW (which is really good, I must appreciate). So in a short span of roughly 8 years, we will have to generate 400 GW and therefore, on an average, per year it comes to 50 GW. It's really a joke to say that every year India will be able to generate 50GW of energy from the renewable sources.

Parliamentary standing committee has started an inquiry to assess if India will be capable of fulfilling this commitment.

Even in Europe, where travel by train is possible to cut the carbon footprints, heads of the European States arrive by plane. Do they really seem to care about environment? In my opinion, No. For if they did, they would have taken rail route instead of air route to reach the summit destination.

Therefore, in my humble opinion, climate summits are, by and large, a criminal waste of public money and host a platform to show off and make a bunch of lies and empty promises.
