In June 2019 Birmingham City Council declared a climate emergency. We set an ambition to become a net-zero city by 2030, or as soon as possible afterwards while ensuring a ‘just’ as well as ‘zero carbon’ transition.
Since then, we have been working to deliver on this ambition. We have a two-phase strategy to provide electric vehicle charge points across the city and allow residents and businesses to make the switch to electric.
In Phase 1 we are working with our partners ESB Energy to roll out 394 fast and rapid charge points across the city by the end of 2022. Phase 2 will see 3,600 charge points deployed across the city by 2030.
