Right now we could invest in the transformation and the research shows the benefits outweigh the costs.
The key problem is that the richest 1% of people in the world cause more than twice the emissions of the poorest 50%.
But governments won’t get them to pay. They hike up national insurance rather than windfall tax even though the oil and gas companies are making vast amounts of money out of this price hike.

Invest in tidal power and storing power as if even 1/10 of what is spent on nuclear and fossil fuel energy research we'd be on cheap energy FAST.

No-one has stopped to ask if we can all afford the net zero policy. Not that net zero means anything because we're just exporting our emissions to China as we import more goods. We have Rolls Royce here in the UK that could produce Small Modular reactors. Or we could invest in safer Molten Salt Reactors. Both produce no CO2 and could create world-class jobs here at home.
Net Zero is more about the movement of wealth away from the West… Self destruction on an epic scale. You will not see China or the developing world adopt Net Zero. Sure they will talk and smile , knowing that only a fool would proceed…
Fact is they lied about climate change from day one , but as per all movements they keep on chipping away and gain momentum until enough people believe it is real… CO2 is one of the main building blocks of life and there was far more of it in the past. It had been in decline over millions of years (maybe longer). Even if we could use up all the fossil fuels on the planet we would never get back to the same levels of the past… The planet will always lock away Carbon , it may bring some back naturally , but we could easily see dangerously low levels in the future…

While most people will have to take out a bank loan to replace their aging gas boiler. The same people and others having to take out another bank loan for an expensive electric car, even a second hand one. All while struggling to pay the heating bills for their homes with green energy.
There is a ray of hope.
When many of the rest are reduced to take public transport, cycle or walk to the supermarket, to get the weekly shopping.
Done in winters cold, windy, wet, grey weather, they can take pride for their contribution, as the architects, members of wealthy organisations and well off supporters of net zero, casually smile and give us a wave as they drive by, on their way to the airport for their less populated, distant, hot sunny holiday destinations.
All to save the planet as we are repeatedly and skilfully told by the UN's, IPCC, politicians, Main Stream Media, Climate Change Lobby, Billionaire's, celebrities, global businesses, and the wealthy who will simply pay and not miss the carbon tax.
No change there then, for any of that lot. Please open your eyes.
Remember the first lock down, empty roads, few shops, no pubs, cafes or restaurants. That is what net zero looks like.
I’m stocking up with candles for next winter, luckily we have log burners which are free to run, won’t be putting the central heating on tho, that’s run on oil which is going to skyrocket too. It’s like we are going backwards.

We in Hungary have same gas price as 2 years ago. We are NATO and EU member yet we have good relationship with Russia, it is possible you see. We have long term contract with Russia. We do not have the energy crisis. At least not the people. Companies experienced some rise but not the public.
