Women are increasingly being recognized as more vulnerable to climate change impacts than men, as they constitute the majority of the world’s poor and are more dependent on the natural resources which climate change threatens the most. At the same time, women and girls are effective and powerful leaders and change-makers for climate change and DRR adaptation, mitigation and responses. In Timor-Leste, women have been leading the charge on climate change and DRR adaptation, mitigation, and response, building a sustainable future.
Through the Joint UN Project Together for Equality joint project, 4 UN agencies in Timor-Leste (UN Women, IOM, UNDP and UNFPA) are collaborating with Government with the generous support from the KOICA, taking action to ensure women and girls in Timor-Leste are empowered to enjoy their right and have the equal opportunity to build a sustainable future for all.
