In the SHAPE project a new set of global target-seeking scenarios, the Sustainable Development Pathways, are developed and analysed https://shape-project.org/.
SHAPE investigates interactions between options to mitigate climate change and the broader agenda of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). To this end, the project brings together model-based system analysis, industrial ecology modeling, social sciences, and participatory dialogue methods.
SHAPE is a joint research project with numerous European partner institutions (German Development Institute, IASS, IIASA, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (lead), Stockholm Resilience Centre, University of Utrecht.
The Sustainable Development Pathways are co-created with stakeholders from government, business and civil society, and further academic experts. As part of the area Science-Society Platforms at the IASS and together with the Stockholm Resilience Centre https://www.stockholmresilience.org/, the IASS co-leads the SHAPE work package on stock-take and stakeholder interaction.
