As climate change accelerates, finding clean alternatives to fossil fuels is more urgent than ever. Social entrepreneur Vaitea Cowan believes green hydrogen is the answer. Watch as she shares her team’s work mass producing electrolyzers — devices that separate water into its molecular components: hydrogen and oxygen — and shows how they could help make green, carbon-free fuel affordable and accessible for everyone. “This is how we end the fossil fuel era,” Cowan says.

What about nox?
What a load of nonsense. Electrolyzis has realatively high efficiency loses, which is physically imposible to solve, there is a bunch of other unavoidable problems on top of that (transport, storage and more). Production price of electrolyzers is the last issue here. Even if the supply of electrolizers would be unlimited, and price would be zero, it would still be impossible to make green hydrogen cheaper than fossil fuel, unless you artificially make fossil fuel more expensive.
Getting 20 percent electricity and using it to get hydrogen 15percent
They are lying about clean at the time in Ukraine hundreds of military explosions ruin nature, air, cities and people life
Where is the electricity coming from?
Green hydrogen will work if its produced by breeder reactors and is combined with air captured carbon to make co2 neutral gasoline
The REAL problem is, the "move" to Hydrogen is driven by Politics…NOT Science.
I think hydrogen could be created from green electricity on-site, i.e. where it is needed in an industrial process. For aircraft it could be generated at airports, again as needed, or with a small amount of tank buffering. Otherwise green hydrogen is not suited for long-term storage of for transport in tankers. It is inefficient to create, compress, and burn, with an overall efficiency of about 35%, compared with 95% for batteries. It has a very limited future, but it is part of the puzzle.
already creating hydrogen hubs. Btw the only climate change is cyclical and now also caused by geo engineering.
When you split water to make hydrogen gas, the water is used up. Water doesn't magically renew it self so when it's gone it's gone forever. It takes 1 litre of water to make 2 litres of Hydrogen gas. It takes 14 litres of gas to make 1 kilogram of liquid hydrogen so thats 7 million tons of water to make 1 million tons of liquid hydrogen. Remember that water is gone forever.
Yea more investment into Hydrogen extraction for fuel, better than Fusion whereby helium cannot be reversed back to hydrogen. 0.06% of earth consist of water and irreplaceable, once gone, unless we find a way to extract water from asteroid or from space, with fusion it is a road towards Dune movie like planet.
Sarawak in East Malaysia is already investing billion of dollars in renewal energy. Once completed the hydrogen plant is going to become the largest in South East Asia….
End of Arab if fossil end
Hydrogen is NOT a fuel, by which I mean it is not an energy source. It is only a means of energy transport, and a poor one at that.
Of the energy put into generating H2, only about 1/3 is stored in the H2 produced. The rest is lost unless the waste heat is able to be used.
Furthermore, turning H2 back into electricity requires a fuel cell which requires palladium and other noble metals – which we do not have in abundance.
Hydrogen is the latest fad from energy fantasyland and it's going to eat up a tremendous amount of $$$$ (and waste a tremendous amount of energy) before the financial folks realize they've been had.
Germany is building plants to burn H2 to generate electricity but, what they don't tell you, is that these plants are also designed to burn natural gas since no one really believes that H2 will be readily available.
The only way H2 makes any sense is if it is coupled with nuclear power generation.
Nuclear is the ONLY way to decarbonize the energy source.
id prefer hydrogen over electric, cause with hydrogen you can still have an ICE which in my opinion is the soul of the car.
Dear Mr. Benny Wang, Chair of the Board and Founder,
I would like to make a proposal that could benefit China, Europe, and beyond, bringing peace, prosperity, and a healthy environment. If these ideas are implemented, we will only need to go to the supermarket, hardware store, or retail outlets for shopping, eliminating the need for gas stations as we know them!
Hydrogen Gel is safe to handle and does not require expensive safety precautions for transport and storage. It can be used in cars, trucks, buses, boats, and propeller-driven aircraft. Hydrogen Gel can also serve as a storage medium for industrial use, among other applications.
I propose a 24-month investment project to apply for grants amounting to 2 million euros. The project involves polymerization techniques to produce HydrogenGelPro with a density starting from 150 kg/m³.
Technical Challenges:
Hydrogen Gel with a density starting from 150 kg/m³
Tubular cylinders as containers with contacts and closure technology
Insertion sleeve on the vehicle with contacts and closure technology, as well as supply and extraction technology from the tube and delivery to the fuel cell
This HydrogenGelPro is intended to completely replace fossil fuels in the field of transportation. Standardized in the form of a cylindrical tube containing 3 kg of HydrogenGelPro, which would be inserted into tank slots of cars, with two tubes per vehicle connecting to the fuel cell via lines and contacts. We should explore new paths; therefore, these HydrogenGelPro tubes could be safely purchased in supermarkets, hardware stores, retail outlets, etc., making traditional gas stations unnecessary. For trucks, multiple slots could be created to provide the energy they require. HydrogenGelPro would also cover the fuel needs for airplanes, as well as for space travel!
This product covers a wide market spectrum, and I am convinced of its potential! If we don’t manufacture it in Austria, others from abroad will, and we will end up paying license fees. I urge you to dedicate your great expertise and experience to this project to find the right scientist and their team. This product could offer 3-5% license fees for the next 20 years upon commercialization, and most importantly, it would benefit our global environment. There is no better product with similar qualities for the next 100 years, and this is a unique opportunity to bring our homeland into the scientific spotlight. Please let me know how you see these matters.
Yours sincerely,
This remindse of the universe skit of tim and eric
Protect this woman at all costs!!!!
Green hydrogen it's future and good for the environment ❤❤❤
Hidrogen is one of energii-dense molekuls 😂not even close molecules of nuklear kind are way mor Energy dense
It doesn't work the hydrogen industry with Elektrolyse or steam reforming at the end it costs more energy and money. The never ending story about (green, blue..) hydrogen.
This video is aging poorly
This is really not a message that is helpful. Anything to do with hydrogen should be presented by engineers, scientists and energy experts able to balance all the trade-offs.
Well this is actually one of the stupidest things we've ever thought of water is one of the things that no matter how much we use it Still Remains here is recycled back into the environment splitting hydrogen and oxygen is very dumb it actually erases the water from the environment and not to mention as far as it goes it's against the laws of the universe the Galactic Federation which is a real thing have laws and that's one of them burning hydrogen is burning a living element the moment hydrogen is given consciousness the process of evolution begins the very beginning and first building block of life is hydrogen burning it is brain dead
I haven't come across an hydrogen engine that last as long as petrol, hydrogen burns much hotter so building an engine that's cheap and last is going to be very difficult.
To go or not into hydrogen vehicles should be under great consideration worldwide. EV is not sustainable with many known problems so looking into hydrogen with worldwide governmental support is a better into the future.
If you’re determined to end fossil fuels, just tax them and let the market decide the best replacement. I don’t trust people like Harris, Trump, or Trudeau making these calls with billions of dollars on the line.
What powers the electrolyzers? Kind of skipped a key point there.
People in the comments disregard these scientists as experts as if they are experts themselves.Yes it's not a great form of energy yet, noone said that we discovered something and from day 1 we will have 100% clean and free renewable energy, this will take time and advance as the technology advances. All the negativity is fueled by political agendas being opposed to the opposite political agenda that has taken over renewable energy.Renewable energy is renewable energy AND WE NEED IT ,its political advocates are corrupted as always but SCIENCE IS SCIENCE whether you like it or not.The systemic right wing macho men who like their energy going vroom vroom and having smoke is arguing over the systemic left libtards that have taken over renewable energy using it only for propaganda. What a sad world we live in,for once just for once set aside political propaganda that has transformed into a lifestyle and poisoned your every thought and lets work together to build a clean and free future away from political ideologies that have transformed into aesthetics, maybe won't happen for us,but do it for the next generations!!!!
