Secretary-General António Guterres’ message on International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction

On the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2022, Secretary-General António Guterres calls on all countries to invest in early warning systems and support those who lack capacity. Extreme weather events will happen, but they do not need to become deadly disasters.
In 2022, the International Day will focus on Target G of the Sendai Framework: “Substantially increase the availability of and access to multi-hazard early warning systems and disaster risk information and assessments to people by 2030.”
