GFDRR 
Over 90% of deaths due to disasters in the last four decades happened in lower-income countries. The World Bank is working with governments to transform how they identify, prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural hazards. In the last 10 years, the World Bank, supported by GFDRR, tripled its support for disaster risk reduction and approved billions of dollars of investments and over 1,000 projects across 100 countries.
ABOUT THE GLOBAL FACILITY FOR DISASTER REDUCTION AND RECOVERY (GFDRR) is a global partnership that helps low- and lower-middle-income countries better understand and reduce their vulnerabilities to natural hazards and adapt to climate change. GFDRR provides grant financing, technical assistance, training and knowledge sharing activities to mainstream disaster and climate risk management in national and regional policies, strategies, and investment plans. The Program Management Unit, located within the World Bank, manages http://www.gfdrr.org grant resources to carry out GFDRR’s mission.
