Session 5: Climate change, disaster risks, and social innovation

In the backdrop of changing climate and the rising frequency and intensity of disasters worldwide, this session will mainly focus on understanding the contemporary risk scenario and the potential pathways of addressing emerging disaster risks. Deliberating on the evolution of disaster management field globally, the session will highlight the complex hazard profiles of India and Japan, while highlighting the areas of shared importance. Particularly, the relevance of social innovation will be discussed in the context of stimulating sustainable solutions to solve the current social problems.
