  1. It's true, we disabled people are very much an afterthought even when it's not a disaster
We had a fire drill recently in my building and I went to the the designated safety assembly location in the fire stairwell. Nobody came to me and there's no mobile signal in there.
That's a small example of how a government organisation can get it wrong. Their temporary solution is to work from home which makes people with disabilities more invisible

  2. The sad fact is our lives aren't as valued. Just with my housing the rest of the flat block's evacuation plan incase of fire is to leave immediately. I'm meant to stay put till the fire brigade arrive, and hope they remember I'm here.

  3. My late husband had a carbon fiber leg and this is the carbon fiber that I am talking about state of the art super hard that they can now make even better then when those prosthetics first came out! They can utilize HEMP to clean up everything and then create a bio char and then graphene Which is the strongest and most conductive substance ever found on the planet. They want to revolutionize our world with this stuff including the way our military and airplanes and computing systems and household‘s are ran. That includes hospitals for the disabled, for children and elderly and for those who cannot otherwise help themselves or have a voice. HEMP for victory and to help to stabilize all of this climactic shift! We must start coming to our senses and start to figure out ways that really work in healing our world and our nations! HEMP for the victory of the nations!

  4. And after storms a lot of times nothing is there for people to eat what is the quickest most nutritious way worldwide to produce food for people and animals? It’s HEMP people can raise chickens goats sheep dogs cats horses cattle everything on HEMP seriously I have studied this all my life and I have worked for the old-timers The people who would now be over 100 years old that taught me how this worked this whole Permaculture paradise method of organic farming and ranching and good stewardship skills and wisdom from the ancients. Seriously Family it’s time to come to our senses and start to work together! Stop all the warmongering effort and start the effort to save the world instead of destroy it! Stop paying into the bologna and start paying into the good!

  5. Because we're a tiny percentage. Literally not worth it, not worth the time, effort, or money. Our lives are considered less worth living anyway. Strangers find it easy to expect a good side to our early deaths — we're not suffering anymore, we're no one's burden anymore. Dealing w/ a progressive neuro illness, needs change all the time, and the single most crushing issue I personally find in an urban setting is lacking basic accessibility that has been required by the ADA for over 30 yrs now. Why are NEW infrastructure still being built WRONG? We don't count enough.

  6. Disabled people are always an afterthought in normal times living far, far, below poverty levels in the richest nation in the world, that in itself is a huge disaster occurring daily.

  7. When there is no real social problems, then we can talk about improving disabled life. When real social problems arrive, disability issues will have to be pushed aside in order to for society to survive. Society is not really designed for disabled.

  8. @Al Jazeera I am an emergency manager in Colorado whose focus is reaching solutions to addressing these issues. I would love to share your video with our Whole Community Group, to discuss and identify solutions to some of the issues you've identified. Thank you for bringing these issues to the forefront. I'm looking forward to following this issue and provoke more discussion and acting on solutions for our communities.

  9. I am disabled, and an amateur prepper, i will always make sure that my knowledge and supplies can bring something to the 'prepping' table. I will not be a burden, even a disabled person can be useful, never sell yourself short or put yourself down. We ALL have something to offer. Learn skills, collect supplies bit by bit. Most disabled people have to adapt to everyday problems that able bodied people take for granted. Do not underestimate our abilities, knowledge, strength and courage.. The biggest survival skill that is needed in EVERY crisis is a positive mental attitude and sense of humour. Trust me, if you leave behind a disabled person, you will lose something and someone HUGE and valuable that could help greatly. God bless
