Okay I get it. The reversal and the micro nova, along the earth discharges and the crustal displacement is how the planet maintains the core , we just happen to be here. But so far are like the gift that keeps on giving and not only the species survives, but thrives again.
Kind of a simpletons way of understanding.

I have a question. Simply put, when the poles shift, does the rotation of the earth stay the same as it is now? This would put the north and south poles rotating around the earth in opposition to each other but both would be in temperate zones.

I have a Weller soldering iron that controls the current using the curie point.
If the cosmic ray bombardment heats up the Moho just a tad it would no longer be magnetic and the crustal lock would release; just like my Weller soldering iron tip.

@Ben, When the micro nova occurs, massive amounts of energy will come streaming into the ionosphere at the weakest points which are at the poles currently. They can’t wander too far otherwise the energy goes into the oceans or worse on land. Phase change is expensive because of insulating properties of ice.
A firestorm with ejecta could cause the massive melting and mass transfer. If, it were localized to the poles which would require current magnetic orientation, less wandering the question becomes how does the decreasing total field strength focus the energy enough to unlock the crust?
