  1. It's deeply unsettling to me that a Canadian visiting Germany did not get the full picture although he can simply google it. Or ask.
Germany learned from history and Fukushima because they have an open mind, a critical thinking culture and inform their citizens. For Europeans, it's the biggest progress ever. We (and I live in Canada now) never forgot about all the sick, injured, handicapped children around Chernobyl but Canadian tv probably never showed them.
In Gernany when it comes to serious serious issues, people know about them as there is an abundance of information and high level political discussions broadcast and published on any given day.
Angela Merkel, an engineer and scientist, made the final decision on shutting down nuclear power in whatever form. Who was the last scientist in Canadian government top decision level?
Please listen to Europe. I have been standing up against nuclear power since I was barely 18, in 1981. It worked.
It's a technology that has had devastating effects. It kills people and children, it poisons the ground when things go wrong and things do go wrong. It poisons the ground for generations. How can people not see this? Bring those images from the children of Chernobyl, the current workers there who have to renew the cement layer, the elderly Japanese around Fukushima to remind people of the dangers that are so horrific. Please.
Aptn to me is like a conscience among Canadian tv channels. I trust you can do that because you really care. Thank you
