  1. Politicians are now controlling the weather, collect more carbon tax and weather will change – perfect scientists, whom are not even qualified to work as gas stations attendants

  2. No where near enough!!! Zero fossil fuels needs to be the standard! We can't accept anything less and it needs to be more than a fine for power companies that don't comply, it needs to be highly criminal!

  3. another govement employee blowing smoke up our rear ends they cant find their way out of a wet paper bag! Really seriously be honest what goverment office or project actually works the way its supposed to they managed to mess up the simplest things

  4. I love how the CBC praises Quebec and complains about Ontario's natural gas power plants, despite the fact that Quebec needs Ontarios natural gas to cover their winter and summer shortfalls. Leave it to the CBC not to understand the details that make the difference. Thanks, CBC, for adding to misinformation on the internet. Perhaps you could pick up the phone and call professionals who understand, like OSPE.

  5. Let's build our renewably powered Canada 🇨🇦 fast and together! The Alberta coal phase out was achieved faster than expected and the installation of large scale renewables is WAY faster than expected with private investment.

Let's build and share the abundant wind and solar PV electricity from the prairies balanced with our east and west hydro resources. Rows of 3 MW grid batteries can be installed at all our substations. Hydrogen can be produced with off-peak renewably powered electricity making green hydrogen for annual storage generating large scale and instant heat and electricity. High insulation renovations with air sourced heat pumps, electric heated floors and solar PV roofs and fences. This is our economically and ecologically successful future.

  6. Alberta will be fine. With carbon capture on the natural gas plants we can just store the CO2 underground. There are also a few companies turning CO2 into products so there is a market for it.

  7. If the Storms and Hail like a tennis ball is hitting Canada, or ice storm like in 1997 all Electricity System will collapse.
And we do what with out gas. Hydro trucks need gas as they cannot charge, no electricity. Army need gas or we became easy prey.
Hospitals need gas generators Air Conditioning etc etc.

  8. We can and need to do so much better than that, please contact your government representatives and let them know they need to do better! And CBC, please stop giving a voice to non-credible critics for the appearance of balance, that can be really quite harmful. Talk to the relevant experts, talk to many of them. I'm no expert, but after listening to many of them speak, I think this headline could more helpfully end with "…But experts say we need to do more, and sooner."

  9. They are all drinking the Kool-aid, I'm not against EV, but no one has looked further past their nose on this. Just a few things, the majority of cars out right now, are driven by 2nd owners, ie used cars, and by mid to lower income people. So a used EV that has its warranty run out and the battery pack fails is going to cost 15Kish to replace. (a used refurbished motor for a f150 today is 1500, to 2500 ) Those who can't afford a EV will pay higher fuel costs due to supply and demand of fuel, again middle class and lower income. Next and this is huge, large transports and farm equipment without having either EV or hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in these two areas, we will be paying higher costs for food, because again supply and demand for fuel will drive up costs. Again middle and lower income people are going to get hammered.

  10. Less reliable energy. In Canada. Where we have what? 2 percent of global population, contribute probably less to global emissions.
Canada could do nothing and it would probably not make one bit of difference. All bs
