  1. the blob with steve mcqueen…. the scare story of death of the globe is gettin' out of hand. the guy needs to go out and take temps of all oceans at various depths. i am liking the idea of a cold blob, though. seems the cold blob will spawn other cold blobs…

  2. We seem to have a lot of tipping points, some already past, and some predicted for the future.
I understood a tipping point,to be beyond the point of no return.
So either tipping point now has a new definition.
Or all of the past tipping points, were not actual tipping points.
Or the term tipping point is so overused for every minute climate anomaly,it no longer has any genuine meaning.
Climate Tipping points are fast becoming, the modern day boy who cried wolfe.

  3. That would explain why this summer in the uk or wales where I am we saw temperatures over 10 degrees cooler this summer than last summer. Temperatures in wales didn’t rise above 25 degrees this summer and today it’s 12 degrees! That’s 15 degrees cooler than normal.. I think it’s happening now..

  4. This year I was on the Atlantic coast of the US, in Ocean City, MD, at the end of August. They experienced the coldest water ever recorded in that area. Checking the waters off of Bermuda, it looks like the record cold waters are persisting now into September. Not a good sign.

  5. The Day After Tomorrow isnt exactly a cinematic masterpiece, but it perfectly portrays a key concept: humans are an unequivocally selfish species who will not change until met with complete destruction.

  6. Folks you don't control the climate. This blob is where ocean water circulation begins–up near Iceland. Polar waters are tasked with transferring cooler water to the equator while tropical waters are tasked with transferring warmer water to the poles. This is Mother Nature's balancing mechanism. Currently we have several oscillations in the ocean operating at once. Water stratifies by density with cold water being the densest. The Gulf Stream is part of the knob that transfers warm water to the poles. It begins in low lats & travels north, tweaked by the Coriolis Force to the northeast. The Gulf Stream cannot collapse because it is induced by the rotation of the planet. The planet has not stopped rotating. Surface currents get their push by the wind; contour currents control the ocean floor.

  7. noaa said it was going to shut off real soon and no one seems to care so o well bust out the ski's and snow mobubbles!!! thats how the ice ages begin. its a cycle, normal conditions for the northern hemisphere are near or @ ice age conditions. the warming trends are the anomoly. and people cant wrap their little tiny minds around that!!!!

  8. Jennifer touched on a further implication of the collapse of the AMOC. The heat that isn't been transferred northward remains in the south. This has implications for stronger hurricanes and decimation of fisheries of those fish that can't handle warmer water. It could also totally destroy corals which are already close to their thermal limiting temperature

  9. Please someone go look up the Greenland ice core samples , that show thousands of years of earth temperatures, and look at how crazy and wild it is , this planet is very dynamic, I’m not saying humans arnt helping changing the climate but it we definitely arnt the only reason . Our planet has cycles , and other things that affect its climate , remember Greenland ice core samples , and look how stable our climate has been for the past 11,000 years and then look at 11,000 years and farther into the past the temperature change is something we have never experienced

  10. Now they can explain to the children how the grand canyon wae developed.. oh my!! Yes shorter seasons & more ships built & include underground volcanic action & new islands!!
More steel in the oceans # calculate remove the oil & childrens big government bailouts too… Less food too

  11. yeah the heat is gathering and we will noy know that it is too late until after it will happen (nobody knows how the planet works because nobody cares and its a lot to process and the required small steps required in understanding something nobody wants to hear of them but yeah we will not know before it will be too late so yeah measures are always in place) .. if it wasnt a solar maximum it would have been bad but for the moment i see no red flags but from perfectly ok green to yelish green we surelly are going and yeah we have putin to save other head of states and the cold blob must got colder cause it is connected to the ice ,, the speed at which the ice is melting helps cooling down the surroundings just like the wind does it.. the heat transfer is still made and it will stop when all the ice will be melted or the gases will polute enough so we will not need heat from the sun anymore so yeah research should be made for cold blob .. i guess a lot of ice is at the bottom of the ocean and the circulation does not care about the planets rotation it goes by the coast because the deeper the water is the colder it is and its the mixing efffect what we call action and reaction effect.. so yeah the cold blob looks like it is cooling but its the warming up agitation so it is actually warming up it is how it is warming up the speed of it cooling is in fact how fast the planet is warming up so yeah this planet has ice only if the atmosphere is clean so this is how we got maps of antarctica free of ice we are not the first and in one million years we will be the last civilization

  12. yeah this is bs. increased co2 shows that we are exiting ice age, no entering it. maybe we are seeing a temporary cooling of the north atlantic, but the heat from global warming will get dispersed somehow

  13. Come on I am just an average person, who grew up in the 80s-90s, who in grade school worked on class projects to 'solve' global warming and most of us knew then that things were going to get bad quick unless we took real action. I swear more people knew it was real prior to 2000 then they do now thanks to social media and people loving conspiracies so much. I can't believe it was renamed from global warming to climate change. In the past 25 years I went from flooding the backyard and making an ice skating rink every year as a kid to almost never having snow or ice last a week in the winter, despite every crazier random -40F storms in the winter. I've watched all the glaciers world wide melting away, all the corals are disappearing, etc.

Any scientist who thinks the tipping point would not have been until 2100 is not worth anything or works for fossil fuel industry and is trying to convince you not to worry. The tipping point was 20 years ago sorry to say, we are in mitigating the damage – slowing the change down mode now but its too late to prevent. The tipping point is when things are set in motion and can't be stopped, its not the point after sea level has already risen 10 meters and even the most idiotic among us can finally convince themselves (will never happen, people still talk about the earth being flat).

When it comes to exponential change people are idiots. The percentage of people that understand if you only saved $5k and can invest that money in something that can double in value each year, it would only take 10 years to have 5 million dollars in value is probably less then 1%. And even in this video they keep using linear predictions on graphs, that is not how change happens. Like the one they show that predicts Amok shutting down 2060 they use a linear projection to reach that conclusion.

The images at 2:45.. (A) being best estimate of future, (B) being a high warming model… it does not surprise me that we match the worse "F* you earth we don't care!" model.

  14. When you think about what happened to the Snow Crab population in the Bering Sea it’s a little unnerving. To have to shut down a major US fishery for two years, then allow only a partial reopening this year, wow. Oh, well if we shut down NOAA and ignore all that’s going on we’ll be OK.

  15. The gulf stream was only discovered 500 years ago and yet you say in a thousand years…methinks you extrapolate too much
Thr jet stream was only discovered in1944

  16. I wonder why the Gulf-stream would stop (even if it gets a fresh water effect from the north) not just be averted to a more southern path. And even if it would stop I wonder why that would also stop the transfer of the heat from the south to the north in the Atlantic Ocean. Would this transfer not remain just in a dfiferent, more dispersed way (not as clustered, directed, integrated as in the Gulf-stream)? Does someon have an answer or idea about these problems?
