Nationals Senator Matt Canavan says the political elite have committed to the “net zero” goal without fully understanding its implications.
Describing it as a “soundbite” rather than a detailed plan.
He says the target would require covering an area half the size of Victoria with solar, wind, and transmission lines.
He labels the target “totally insane” and unachievable, accusing politicians of “telling people lies.”
“Almost everybody I talked to down here kind of realizes that net zero won’t happen. I just think they have to say these things to get elected,” Mr Canavan told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

Net Zero is an impossible task. We in the UK have huge amounts of Coal, oil and Gas. Yet we import all three from other countries at great expense Can someone tell me the sense of it all. It's incredible to think that our so called leaders think this is the way to net Zero. The Coal, oil, and gas have to come from somewhere to keep the lights on. Chopping down trees and taking up farmland for solar or windfarms is insane. Then again I have thought this for years, and that Many of our politicians are mentally challenged or are doing these things for other reasons then saving the planet. Don't forget the likes of China, Russia, Pakistan and many other countries will not be following the Wests path to suicide and downfall. It also means we will be importing more and more goods from the countries I have mentioned. All we will produce is debt and despair.
A truthfull politician for once , "politicians just lie to get elected" we already knew this but I never thought I would hear it from one.
Renewables are our only option, fossil fuels are too polluting. Nuclear is too expensive and we can't wait 20 years for it to be built, (don't start with me with SMRs they are still a fantasy, they are very expensive and not planned to be made in sufficient quantities.

NET zero is actually impossible. The idea of "offsets" needs to be looked at. Planting trees cannot be an offset because the trees grow and one day die. They rot down and the carbon is returned to the atmosphere. That is nature. It means that this mechanism does NOT offset any use of fossil fuels. So the only solution is to minimise the use of fossil fuels and not permit NET zero to be a substitute for actual climate action.
I dont know what to say about this guy. Hes a clown 🤡 that only spews what murdock wants to get his mug on anyform of media. He should look to see how much land has been taken up by solar and wind already in Queensland let alone the rest of the country.
Only about 30% of our carbon emissions are from producing power, so what about the other 70% of our carbon emissions, what else is the government going to destroy
