29 thoughts on “Net Zero: Rishi Sunak lowers UK ambitions for reaching net zero

  1. Problem for Sunak is that the only kind of people happy with this U-turn probably won't be voting for anyone else anyway but Tory. I don't see how he narrows the gap to Labour with this move.

  2. It's easy to make pledges on net zero when it's not government money but in fact tax payers money your spending. It appears Mrs Sunak put a pair of testicle in Rishi's boxer shorts when she dressed him this morning!!. Politicians who aren't supporting him are most likely financially invested in green energy firms?. EON, and other energy companies crying into their champagne as they were hoping to trap energy user's into electric only and therefore could hold them to ransom no matter what price they decided to charge. Don't forget last winter's energy crisis. These companies made records profits off the backs of hard pressed energy user's who they left destitute with huge bills.

  3. Nobody is stopping the car manufacturers from electrifying their product range. They are only angry because the public won't be FORCED to buy it by the government. That's because they have no intention of selling these vehicles at a competitive price that people would otherwise be willing to pay!

When the technology is viable and affordable, there won't be any need to ban petrol and diesel cars in order for people to adopt it.

  4. Taking the big stick out of change, the evolution by morality. Wise considering the electric only car might be the wrong solution. True environmental policies should start with consuming less. Don't even think about electric air travel.
