In a speech delivered to the press in London’s Downing Street briefing room, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced that the UK would be adopting a more pragmatic and realistic approach to its climate policies. He stated that the country would be softening the policies aimed at achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Prime Minister Sunak also confirmed that the UK would still uphold its international agreements, including the critical promises made in Paris and Glasgow to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees. According to him, this approach would ease the burdens on families.
