Did you know more people are concerned about climate change than ever before? So why isn’t that translating into more action? Neuroscientist Kris De Meyer is here to explain. Kris believes the way we’re communicating about climate change is wrong. Conventional wisdom tells us beliefs drive actions – so if we get more people to care about climate change then they’ll act upon it – right? Wrong. In reality, actions drive beliefs far more. That means, we need to start telling stories about how you take climate action rather than telling people what to do. As Kris says, “we need to collectively tell stories of doing” to inspire more people to get started on combating climate change. Kris is a neuroscientist and director of the Climate Action Unit at University College London. He brings insights from neuroscience and psychology to how we tell stories about climate change, communicate about climate risk, and create opportunities for climate action. He trains journalists and communicators in how to tell stories of action, rather than stories of concern. With storytelling studio Fast Familiar and NESTA, he developed The Strategy Room, an interactive story scenario showing the positive future we can create by acting on climate change. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Climate change is fake,
come one by one…
Knowing what we do about the impact of animal agriculture on climate change, if we are not vegan, we are not taking the simplest and most effective action can.
The system can't stop us being vegan, it's our choice and I'm not just talking about what we eat.
If we are not vegan, we are only activists in terms of what we want government, industry etc to do but not demanding the same of ourselves.
It is important to lead by example where we can.
It is so frustrating when the discussion about climate change doesn't have anything to do with animal agriculture.
Climate changes happen due to human greediness..it's a behavior indeed.
CO2 emissions can NOT drive climate change. We’re in one of the coldest periods of earth’s history.

Great talk, the best so far. Stopped flying taking cold showers and it feels empowering
I’ve been so co consumed of what I’ve been told I’m supposed to be so never thought of anything than what I was told

Good talk. I already know what to do, but I'm limited in what I can do for financial reasons.
"Businesses are waiting for consumers to change their buying behaviour". Where did that come from? They're actively driving consumer buying behaviour
Excellent talk – watch to the end
I just published a short book on actions we can all take to stop emissions and ease the rise in eco anxiety among young people. Google "Decycle – A New Way" to get involved.
Every year the world occasionally held a few meetings for climate change, all the world leaders must walk the talked to mitigate climate warming.
That was really something…

Thank you

The days of waiting for people to change has come and gone!!!
Yes, it is all natural, and we can't do anything about it!
"Nothing changes the minds of politicians and billionaires as fast as seeing there colleagues shot dead."
(Reference: a borrowed centerment of Chairman Moa Zedong, 1927)
Extremely general and manipulative talk, still very enlightening in decoding human behavior in the face of real or not so real crises and challenges.
