  1. Good idea. However .. and unfortunately … the increase would be passed on to the passengers (doesn't the public always get screwed?!). Only those with, well .. higher bank balances would be able to pay the higher rates, but not folks like me and million others. Also, though a great idea, the world would have to get on board. It might work for domestic flights within the US (or France, Switzerland, Norway, etc.). If you go 'petrol free' from NYC to somewhere in Asia, Africa, parts of ME, LATAM, they may not be able to buy the necessary 'fuel' for returns. Not saying we shouldn't try but much of the 'flying world' (and that's just about everywhere) would have to bet upgraded for it to work. There are a lot of things that have to be worked out beforehand.

  2. Synthetic and bio kerosene will not reduce emmisions, your still burning it, and it will have a greater carbon footprint to manufacture than refining oil. Noone ever looks at the big picture. I am just waiting to say i told you so when the "experts" finaly realize the true global impact of producing and "recycling" all of those lithium batteries.

  3. I guarantee there will be no quadrupling of passengers by 2050. Have you not heard there's a demographic collapse under way in almost the entire world except Africa. Poverty is also on the rise in the Western world so there will be a much much shower increase in passengers than predicted here.

  4. Meanwhile we people will be forced to buy expensive EV's regardless of the effect it will have on hoiseholds. The industry can't keep up with electricity demand either…

  5. I’m not flying not to protect the environment but not having no money to afford expensive flight tickets..planning to relocate back to my home county as it takes 2 months savings to buy a family ticket once a year😅 everything is getting expensive except my salary..

  6. I tell you what has to be done 1. Invest in rails, they have to become an alternative to flying, then we get cancel 50% of continental flights 2. Flying has to become more expensive and ultimately a luxury. 3. Intercontinental flights should be subsidized for specific individuals and few times throughout one’s life. To avoid resentments

  7. Help me understand. All plants, trees, weeds, grass; shrubs etc. these things taken carbon dioxide and expel oxygen.
So why is it that we want less carbon dioxide. We don't want out and out smog for sure. Scientifically, do you not have enough trees, plants and foliage to absorb the output of carbon dioxide?

  8. It's a matter of will. Biofuels are available now. They could push out viagra and vaccines in massive quantities in record time. They can push out biofuels too if they wanted to. The raw material is available in massive quantities all around the world. Pressure them more and get to work! By the way, whatever happened to that solar powered airplane that was flying fine 10 years ago?

  9. Saying "net zero" is silly, the airliners could sponsor some trees that don't exist on the otherside of the planet and then on paper they will be "net zero" because all these carbon credits for offsetting are just rediculous.

We don't need "net zero emittions" we need "zero emittions".
