In this video I explain what climate sensitivity is and why it is important. Climate sensitivity is a number that roughly speaking tells us how fast climate change will get worse. A few years ago, after various software improvements, a bunch of climate models began having a much higher climate sensitivity than previously. Climate scientists have come up with reasons for why to ignore this. I think it’s a bad idea to ignore this.

The most perfect climate emergency video i have ever seen.
Climate change is so obvious right now, I just can't believe that there are still people out there who don't believe in it. In their tiny little minds with 2 brain cells, this is all a conspiracy theory so that government can steal more money from them through taxes. In the meantime, their summer 10 Celsius hotter then it used to be 5y ago đ
You say that living a kind of post apocalyptic world would be uncomfortable to live in but I couldnât imagine a better scenario for our species. I think Christopher Ryan put it best in his book and yâall should read it.
I am still not worried because i am at least 200 iq points below what's needed to come up with a technical solution and I'm almost 30 and have no connections whatsoever to politically influence china and india to take a fucking a hint like the US did recently or willing to risk going to jail so who gives a shit. Even if you become a badass public speaker and leader and raise hundreds of thousands of people to your environmentalist call you still won't make any headway with China and India's bureaucratic nightmares and no amount of force or awareness you and your local buddies can muster is enough to really do anything other than for you to do something horrible in Minecraft and end up in jail
Do you know what the electrical dipole moment of CO2 is? The historical amount of the CO2 in the atmospere is believed to have very wide swings (as much as 80 times what it is today) and the earth's temperature shows little to know correlation with it. This is over 100s of millions of years, so it is not something that can be definitively known, but it does come from fairly solid science. You sound like you only look at data over the last hundred or less years evaluating emperical models and their non-physical parameters.
I think carbon emissions are only the tip of the iceberg that lays within. Under water volcanic activity has increased over the last 100 years. Which leads me to believe that the pressure upon the earth's crust in the oceans has decreased. How can this be? Well I'll tell you my theory & it really isn't that complicated. We are a society of practicality & believe in what the white coat industry is spoon feeding us & we love to shop . Unfortunately most everything we buy to eat & drink are packaged goods , are you starting to get the picture? Well let me continue to enlighten. Water pipes , toilets, hot water tanks ,pools ,cooling tanks , sprinkler systems, water bottles, beer bottles , soups , every imaginable container that has water added to it . But wait your going to say it's recycled. We miss the point that there is an on going increase every day. More & more is being stored . I bet it's not the first time you heard this one ! When I was a kid I remember this pond was a beautiful lake & now well it's a pond & looks like it won't be here soon. What a shame how does this happen? A few years back I did a quick calculation & came up with a staggering # of cubic feet of water being stored in North America. This will take your breath away. The amount was equal to the size of Alaska 8 feet deep. Well surface tension on the oceans have changed, new islands have risen, volcanic activity throughout the world. I could go on & on but I think I have learned that you are highly intelligent & can see the bigger picture. It's amazing to watch ants slowly , unnoticed, to change the landscape & that is what we as humans are doing. Like ants not totally knowing the changes we have made that mother nature disagrees with. She is a very powerful beast. Mulch it over đđ
Global warming is happening, but the current temperatures might be misleading, because i have been using my ability to cool things down with my consciousness melding with the atmosphere. I have brought down cold from the arctic, and as i watched what i "believed" for as the wind currents brought down the cooler temperatures to give me 3 autumns throughout the 2024 summer. As this happened, i noticed the arctic warming up rapidly while i enjoyed fall in summer. I won't be able to keep this up. Eventually, everything will burn up.
I read all about it also from the sciencest who are not paid off they day no panic the plannet is fone .
Excellent breakdown. I will say that rising sea levels will assuredly do more than just drive people inland. When countries lose their shipping ports, they lose the capacity to send and receive goods. The disruption in global trade will put near-instant stress on island nations, such as Japan, that are entirely dependent upon good access to ports. One metre of sea rise will see the loss of these ports and Japan will essentially lose its ability to feed itself. None of this is going to end well. Collapse of global shipping will see countries that are largely self-sufficient moving towards strict nationalism. Other countries dependent on other resources will either collapse or go on a rampage to take whatever they can from their immediate neighbours. Essentially, it's all one lousy shit sandwich of a situation.
Has Sabine sold her soul? đ CO2 has always followed temperature rise. What's the optimal CO2 level for vegetation Sabine? Hint: 6000 ppm Cambrian period, How much CO2 do submariner's live with for months on end? 5000-10,000ppm. According to NOAA NASA the earth has greened more then 20% since 1970 thanks to the miniscule rise in CO2 levels.
Optimal CO2 levels for vegetation are 3-4 times higher than current levels.
Temperature and CO2 have always risen after each periodical 'little ice age'. Usually 5-9 degrees. Previous little ice age ended around 1870. Did you know they were ice skating on the Thames river London in the 1800's? Also USA: Galveston Bay froze over from Houston to Galveston Island in the 1800s; the ground in Dallas was frozen on Mayday then too, the settlement "La Reunion" had to quit and move into town. In New York City in 1780, the harbor froze over, offering residents a frigid walk from Manhattan to Staten Island.
Did you know these same 'scientists' were terrified of CO2 levels dropping below 300ppm and an imminent new 'ice age' in the 1970's? (e.g., Balling 1992, Giddens 1999,
Schlesinger 2003, Inhofe 2003, Will 2004,
Michaels 2004, Crichton 2004, Singer and Avery 2007, Horner 2007).
These 'scientists' income is dependent on fear mongering.
There are plenty of honest scientists exposing this fraud but the MSM can't make money if there's no 'drama' to report.
Do a little 'honest' research.
The kind of blunt, honest, and dark video about climate change we need to watch. We need this kick in the gut, but sadly, our political leaders and corporate executives will not heed its warning.
You say you don't want to live in a world with a few billion less people. That's part of the problem. I cannot think of anything better than hacking global population at least in half, especially when the vast majority of these people can't rub two fucking brain cells together to make a spark of a thought.
I don't worry about something i can't change. This will be an exponential process. Hotterseas will expel co2. And so will arctic lands. Sell your seaside estates
I'm heartbroken this is continuing to go almost completely unchecked. I can't wrap my head around it. I keep hearing how much going green cost but it's as if they think there's an option!?!? Think of what it'll cost if we don't!! Smh we truly live in a dystopian time and I fear it will get exponentially worse over the next few years. Thank you for all that you do!! Thank you for repeatedly trying to get the word out there and thank you for trying to push for change! The world needs more people like you.
A couple of years ago I tried to fix a Open Source Model that had pretty unreliable Predictions, I gave up once I noticed that the model could not work with the actual data that I feed into it because for that model to work i needed certain parameters like CO2 levels in the atmosphere and so on and I quickly started to notice a big discrepancy between what we told is going on and what is really going on.
I incorporated a Database and a tool that should check for discrepancyâs from the model generated data to the actual real time data point and make some sense out of this. Turns out the model couldnât run correctly because the data I provided was so far off from whatâs really going on that I needed moths of data mining to figure that out. And most governments still donât want to hear that the data they provided is completely useless because itâs so wrong.
I don't know what to do about climate change. I don't travel much – day to day, I work, go home, go to the gym, or cook, my socks have holes … that's about it. I can eat less and heat my flat to a minimum … So honestly, I don't think we can individually do much (but travel fewer and less far). It's frustrating to see ideological arguments against nuclear though, or people doing things out of defiance ("I'm not a vegan, arrrr") or stupidity ("my meat is so expensive"). I remember something I overheard a while ago, "what are you doing on Friday? Protesting for the climate. And on the week-end? flying to Morocco … OK guys, seriously. The bigger question to me is how humanity will deal with the effects of climate change – like what will happen and how fast. In the end we'll deal with stuff I guess. I guess that's human. Find out and deal with things later … And honestly? Feeding everyone has limits, we've been good at reducing hunger in the world, but overfeeding many. In the end, population will stabilize to a sustainable number, one way or the other.
âHow fast we need to actâ like why isnât the obvious answer âright nowâ đ
If you don't come up with numbers you don't get grants.I never met a scientist who says the debate is settled I don't need any more research funding. Climat sensitivity? what happened to Global warming, Acid rain, all the dead polar bears, all the coastal cities under water, mass reduction in population. Who bothers to believe this rubbish anymore apart from the people depending on it for their wages?
The problem is that if you actually STUDY it, carbon rises AFTER temperatures, not before.
Nuclear ? BAD idea – not heard of Fukushaima – cldean up so far costing 11 TRILLION yen and 30 yrs to go. And what was the others – 3 mile / Ukraine
If something requires belief or disbelief, it is not science. It is religion.
Point 2. Do not like CO2? Cork the volcanoes. Especially the underwater ones.
Point 3. Greta Thunberg. Enough said.
Climate change is happening faster than almost anyone predicted. It is feeding on itself, growing geometrically. The tipping point cannot be far off. Humans are not equipped to deal with this. At this stage in our evolution we are too greedy, too self-centered, too short-sighted to react effectively. Scientists have been reluctant to sound the alarm bells due to their anxiety over being called fear-mongers. I lay this at the feet of republicans, who demonize scientists at every opportunity.
Greta?
To think you or I can make an impact on the climate is silly, in the 80s they said people are using too much hairspray and itâs going to put a hole in the ozone layer. But we use exponentially more products due to population increase now then we did then. Where is that hole?
Weâre at the end of an Ice Age. Shits gonna get real.
But nobodyâs talking about the polar shift that is happening. The polls are moving approximately 40 feet a day. The tension that puts on our planet is more scary than the impact we put on the world. History says weâre due for a cataclysmic event. at every polar shift there is a mass destruction and flooding. That is documented in every country. This planet is always a ticking time bomb. we are nothing but ants riding the waves thinking we know what weâre talking about.
More people die from the cold and the lack of energy. Currently, I am more personally scared of a Third World war.
The way it will be fixed is by out-competing fossil fuels, solar panels still only provide a couple of percent of humanities total power but it is growing fast, that is the hope we have. And yes, wind power, batteries, pumped storage, nuclear power, hydro power etc.
