  1. But also it causes other problems with things like moss in certain climates and regions. And will also see the reduction of certain grass types that are needed. Silly video. I always am reticent about trusting American “academics” … I distrust any nation behind TLC, History Chanel and Discovery. They are as trustworthy as a wiki with no citations.

  2. I don’t understand why people deal with turf grass. Why would anyone want the responsibility of mowing grass weekly (in growing season)? I can see the value of putting in effort to tend to a garden, because you actually get stuff to use from it, but just a grass lawn? What is the point? You run a loud expensive machine over it once a week or pay someone else to do it, and for what? A green ground to look at?

Would totally do a clover lawn so I wouldnt have to worry about constantly mowing a pointless plot of grass.

  3. Two years ago I replaced 3/4 of an acre of grass with moss. Always emerald green, no need for a lawnmower or a Weedwhacker. Just an electric leaf blower. I never considered clover, but a few of my neighbors switched to moss after seeing the results. I almost made a T-shirt that said, “asked me about my moss lawn” My inner Hank Hill smiled.

  4. It all depends on which lawn you are referring to. If it’s the back yard, I truly don’t care. However, my front lawn is, and will remain, turf grass.

Edit: Before all the anti-lawn crazies come out of the woodwork, my lawn hasn’t seen a poison in 5 years, and is regularly over-seeded to maintain weed control. Fertilizer is mostly organic. I also live in a climate where grass grows naturally, so it only gets watered once per week in the dry months of July and August; the same as any other plant.

  5. The unpleasant thing about clover is that it only lasts a couple weeks. You'll spend most of the summer with a muddy, dead "lawn".

Alternatively, most American's lawns are simply too big.

  6. This is so old my comment will probably drown…

Live in a housing community that has made a big difference regarding stuff like this the last few years… but regular grass is still dominant.

Anyway clovers are wonderful plants, if you're able to obtain what would qualify as clover honey, try it, it's really great. They are, as you say, nitrogen binders, fertilising the soil they stand in… and another thing, all kinds of clover are human edible, and many have an acidic taste which can freshen up the taste of your salad without lemon or lime juice.
