The Labor Party has said it plans to spend 1.8 billion pounds over five years as part of their Green Prosperity plan if they win the next general election. This comes after they were forced to U-turn on their previous 28 billion pounds a year pledge.
Ed Balls questions Ed Miliband on whether he will commit to his pledge to bring forward the government’s commitment to have net zero emissions by 2030.

Did anyone notice the grab bucket from the crane going into milligrams skull
Can't say I'm keen on this trend of politicians from the same party interviewing each other. Donât like it on GB News. Donât like it here.
What happens if we get 56 days of "dunkelflaute" like the UK got in 2018? Projecting out to 2050 with increased demand from electrification of transport and heating etc, we would need to find something like 28TWh of missing electricity generated from wind power (but the wind won't be blowing!).
Britain currently has 39.3 GWh of pumped storage. There are 4 pumped storage stations in Britain. No storage capacity has been added to the grid since the 1980s, and there is no other large scale energy storage in the country.
To cover a cold dark still winter you would need to increase pumped storage capacity by a factor of about 1000 (taking into account pumped storage is about 75% efficient). So we would need to find 4000 suitable locations where a 300 to 400m dam can be built to hold back 10 million cubic metres of water, with a fall to the turbines below of about 400 metres.
Then we would have to build 160 of these every year, year after year, for 25 years.
The scale, and the massive cost of storage, by whatever method (pumped storage is one of the cheapest by the way), make it an impossible mission.
1:10 The turbines come from China âĻ Cuz they make them cheap âĻ CUZ THEY HAVE CHEAP ENERGY FROM BURNING COAL âĻ duh âĻ

I am sure history will remember him as the grim reaper after the first calm days in Winter on a wind powered country in this fantasy non carbon world. There seems little chance of Nuclear capacity any where adequate being on tap in such short notice if at all. I wonder if we need to look at the early days of the Russian revolution to see what is in store for us with pure innumerate ideologues running the show? With China building our nuclear plants and providing the only affordable EVs they can brick the UK economy with the flick of a switch in Peking.
Wind turbines – where do we store the energy currently in uk?? We (tax payers) currently pay the energy companies for switching off the wind turbines because the grid can't cope. It costs the same as gas costs. GB Energy needs to address this … British Gas only big enough not likes of Octopus???
Does the legal costs for cancelling North Sea exploration come out of that 1.8 billion? Because if it does itâs probably all gone. A week in.
It's insane to think 2030 is achievable. It could only be achieved by a massive oncost to us
There is no climate crisis , without oil you wonât get your mobile phones, medicines and equipment, electrical conduit and more besides, why import when we have our own oil and gas , the only net zero I want is illegal/ legal immigration as it takes all our resources.
Thats if you can replace all the cars and trucks with electric cars and trucks plus when you make the batteries for the car and trucks you put more co,2 in to the atmosphere
What about nuclear power stations no one has said anything about them
net zero he sayes, meaning no oil drilling , STANDING THERE IN HIS HIGH VIZ JACKET AND PRACTALLY EVERYTHING ELSE HE'S WEARING!!! what "fools" are running (sorry, ruining) the country we have, and we all thought the tory's were the worst it could get????
Ed the man that's never had a real job in his life he doesn't live in the real world net zero is fantasy
