Flooding is getting worse, and not just from hurricanes or rising tides, but from increased heavy rainfall. In this episode, we dive into the changing landscape of flood hazards. First, we journey to New York, to visit Hoboken, New Jersey, and Hollis, Queens, two communities facing different flood challenges. Then, we explore First Street’s groundbreaking new risk map, pinpointing high-risk areas. Want to take action against flooding in your area? Watch this episode for insights and solutions.
Weathered is a show hosted by weather expert Maiya May and produced by Balance Media that helps explain the most common natural disasters, what causes them, how they’re changing, and what we can do to prepare.

She calls it a lake he calls it a pond. It looks more like more man made water catch then anything else.
People in Hollis need to chill out. They have a Burger King and a McDonald's what more do they want.
If they let us build a 10 km ball then the rain would freeze at the top of the ball and if we wanted it to rain then we can heat up the ball and then the snow/ice will turn into water and it would form into rain but that's only if they let us make a 10 km ball. It only rains because of the distance from the clouds to the ground. If the ground was further up it would turn into snow which a 10km ball would do
Liars weather patents.
this data will just be used to sell higher premium flood insurance tp low income neighborhoods and be used to increase housing prices for higher income neighborhoods.
We kind of do know what it would look like. We not ready.
That rain garden is way over engineered. Just dig a bunch of ponds
Hahahaha. I live in Toronto, just on the north side of lake Ontario and based on your thumbnail picture that has all the flooding stop at the US Canada border I guess I am not effected. Even PBS thinks the world stops at the us borders
Don’t worry. Democrats will have the most unqualified non-binary DEI flunkies in charge of this crisis.
Used to live this channel,
But DEI etc nuff said
So you think their wealth increased because they are white and not because they were smarter than the dumb poor other. In this new world, you can just educate yourself and become a white cit, is, in, no matter.
What color you are
I tried to hold back with the pedantics, but the one last ho-BOK-in at the end tipped me over the edge.
Communication person, get your pronunciations correct!
HO-bo-ken, not ho-BOK-in!
LOO-ville, not LOOWEY-ville!
I guess thankfully I live on top a hill…
Too many paved areas not enough green spaces
Building on marshes was not a good idea
No, it’s just the news media who are the purveyors of misery who are the biggest threat to the population right now.
But how much did the Hoboken underground reservoir cost? Is it feasible to install these in every neighbourhood?
Complete bullshit THEY don't know why ? The experts have no idea why ? What a bunch of hacks fake experts have kept the info from us , thats there job to keep this from the public until it's too late and they don't know why ? jail these experts for being criminally negligent on the very topic that they should know !!?
PURE propaganda about white and black folks whites profit while blacks loose money just incredible ignorant racist video SHAME on PBS Terra fake news
2:1 soon? Probably yes!!! All the climate modelling îs more or less far behind the reality! We simply don't have the capability to keep up. All the 'computing' power îs not enough. Quantum computer can… but the results (what we must change) we will never be prepared and willing to do…
They hiring some joints at pbs 👀
So, where is the sanctuary?
The housing solution is rather stilted.
Cool video. Lots of people that never flooded in sarasota flooded after tropical storm Debby.
It's happening just like it is supposed to Raymond Paul Sullivan III me myself and I and him
I'm in northern PA, and we had farming communities devastated by flooding from Debbie this summer. Many farmers had complete loss of crops as well as significant loss of fencing and livestock.
More BS.
We will be fine.
Is it just me, or does Amy Chester look like Professor Trelawney?
Where can one build a home where there is –
No floods or extreme weather mud slides *
Okay but can we talk about how absolutely smart and stunning she is I’m in awe ❤❤❤❤❤
it seems cities are in the most danger of flooding
I had sewer back up in Queens NY. FEMA DEFINITELY DIDN’T HELP THOSE IN MY COMMUNITY AINT ALL. Submitted everything they requested and made excuses for not helping me. Then told me to get a loan to help with the damage
Akron Ohio about two years ago put in a huge underwater storage under the city to midicate flooding during a storm.
It is working.
Turn to the Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ ✝️
The eyes to see and the ears to hear…
Hope new asphalt that is permeable. Gets popular. the ground can absorb some of this water
So true – great video. Home insurance rates are insane. Will farmers have to migrate to other climate zones?
There are more atmospheric rives crossing the U.S. They are more dangerous.
the 90s all they were talking about is what happening
all water stays in the earth frozen up in poles or vapour in the jet stream
you can thank
Jesus is coming soon! Repent and believe in the Bible!
Nothing like playing to the “its all about me” crowd 🤪
Maybe we should just move inland, we have the infrastructure to do so and might be best to start moving. The main population of the US lives within 100 miles of the coast. We have plenty of space to move in and restructure. It will be a multi generational problem but why not start now instead of trying to mitigate the future effects?
9:00 the exact language that perpetuates racism, and ofc its pbs
Global cooling has always caused flooding!
❤
