We certainly had very strong data by the mid 20th Century that CO2 emissions were such that the climate would warm if we continued as we had. Warnings were, in some cases, intentionally disregarded or subject to a concerted campaign of denialism. Many people are making very positive changes in their lifestyle but those who do not switch to sustainable energy use, do not stop burning stuff and eating a meat based diet remain complicit in perpetuating this crisis
