If your army is anything like the UK, the vehicles could be stood down for years, so vehicles would most likely need new batteries when they are needed, unless they leave them on trickle charge!
32 years in the Australian Army. They only emissions we cared about were the ones from the other sides barrels. They're the only ones that should be cared about… and reduced.

As a soldier you don’t seem to have any idea about life on the battlefield. Soldiers care about staying alive. The best weapon a soldier has is the element of surprise, not being seen or heard. It’s not like the movies where you make lots of noise and are gung ho. These vehicles and technology helps the soldiers move without being heard.
Have you heard the noise the M1A1 makes? Do you know how hot the exhaust is and the heat signature it puts out. I’m grateful the ADF has people thinking about the safety of its men and women.
Price fluctuations are a fact of life. CD players cost £400 back in 80s ( not adjusted for inflation) now you can get them less than £100 and can play DVDs. Early adopters will always pay the price.
