Under the government’s net zero plans, 88% of vehicles that are sold in car dealerships have to be electric by 2030 and gas boilers will have to be replaced with other heating systems in the very near future.
Alex Phillips questions if political parties should discuss scrapping net zero pledges in order to get the keys for Number 10. She says: “The costs have been MASSIVELY underestimated.”
Andrew Montford, Deputy director of Net Zero Watch, thinks the reason the UK is going ahead with net zero plans is because the public is being fed disinformation.
He says: “The information coming out of Whitehall and the Committee on climate change is essentially fictional.”

I don't understand, I know for a fact that most electricity I use costs me 7p/kWh with Octopus energy which is incredibly cheap, I know for a fact that most people in the UK, if not all, have access to the same. Even without a heat pump I can heat my home and water really cheaply with electricity. Why aren't journalists educating the public to take advantage of the available cheap energy? The majority of people don't know this.

I was reading this morning that the companies who own the wind farms will have received over one billion pounds (since subsidies began) from the government in deals they made to get paid even when the turbines are not producing electricity.

You have to remember that most people are quite gullible. Of course net zero is attractive, but it falls even when you scratch the surface and delve into what it would mean to them i.e colder, poorer and more restricted here in the UK whilst watching much of the world enjoying a better life. People will get real eventually, you will see.
