I was curious if I could get a good used engine for my late model Diesel SUV. I bloody can, with less than 100000klms on it and roughly $4500 fitted, seems like a better option than a battery replacement for an EV. I've used a third of its engine life after 7 years, so potentially 21 years out of a Diesel SUV, far better for the environment than a soulless electric blob. I truly believe EVs are status symbols for wankers, latte sippers and evangelist dickheads.

You should read the drivel written by ABC Business (reported in MSN Australia news in Technology section) about how electric vehicles are so much better for the environment. Talk about lefty BS, so skewed using statistics to falsify the facts.

All available storage areas at the docks and dealers are full, so to make way for the next batch, they have to clear
them.
Everyday i receive emails with discount offers if i buy one, since an EV is of no use to me they
have no chance of selling me one.
In a couple of years i can see there been waiting lists for ICE cars as the dealers have to meet EV
sales targets.
Jag HAS to go electric because they are owned by China and because the UK is using regulatory force to make everyone go EV. It doesn't matter what is or isn't logical or marketable, the CCP controls every Chinese company by law and they are demanding their car companies focus on EV.
The ferry boats could do fine as EVs, but they should use a power cable strung across the strait under the water that the boats could use to get power. The boats would have MUCH higher carrying capacity, be much cheaper, and wouldn't need the dangerous high speed charge of large batteries before every run. Can you imaging how much power is used just to cool the batteries when they are being charged so fast and what happens if any of the cooling fails or one section of the battery gets out of spec and runs away before it's caught? For a distance like 5 miles, just use a cable.

I’m in the uk it’s an underhanded but effective tactic to cancel orders for ice cars at major dealerships at the 11th hour and offer an upsold electric version as an alternative. What’s disappointing but understandable is that buyers are agreeing. We are being coerced into adopting EV,s against our free will. Fight the power people. Eat fried chicken. Drink beer.

I watched a video recently can't remember the link but they was talking about the amount of copper mined in history and how much they reckon is left will not be enough to cover the green conversion agenda around the earth,the same is so with precious metals for electronics,just not enough for everyone at the current population and enviromental impact,I guess we need to use what we have until we need new and slow down on consumerism of goods

There is no such thing as an electric car mechanic, it's just a person suggesting to write it off or replace basically the whole car if there is a problem with the complicated motor assembly, control electrics or the battery. These things are the most wasteful products ever made as soon as the slightest thing goes wrong.

For every gallon of petrol not used by an EV car, it is burnt at a power station instead. (Or equivalent to a gallon of petrol, oil, gas or coal.)
Ship in those waters (which are very shallow) low on battery power is not going to go anywhere, far to risky.
As for a battery fire, don't even think about that!

There has been nothing but nonsense with most of the electric ferries. Several of them are now docked and have been replaced with 30-40 year old diesel ferries, while taxpayers pay to find out what is wrong.

Get an old Land Rover or a classic Jaguar. The former are practically bulletproof, the latter will continue to be repairable when the last Tesla is rotting in its grave.
Once the dealer ship catches fire from a EV being worked on at the dealership. Their insurence will cancel them and that will be the end.
