Co2 doesn't cause the global temperature to rise. Co2 levels increase slightly after the temperature has risen. As long as there is ice on the poles we are still in an ice age, When it melts plants and animals will live on the poles again and the world won't be much hotter. .
War is a major contributor to climate change. We must shut down the Military-Industrial Complex which President Eisenhower warned us about.
Oh good lets shut down the U.S. economy for the climate change hoax !! But china and india the 2 biggest polluters dont do anything !! Like listening to Al Gore all over again! And look how rich he got !!!
Florida’s housing market will collapse soon. Even the Insurance companies know what’s coming with global warming & packing their bags.
Sen Whitehouse picked up the baton and has consistently informed the senate, or the record anyway, which has helped move the needle away from the fad of “climate change denial” but still not quite far enough to make things more sustainable by default.
Reactionary emergency management has never been good policy or effective humanitarian impacts, which is still the order of the day for companies resisting a shift at all just because they don’t want to invest in R&D because they need to keep those returns as high as possible for ???
> The fossil fuel interests have blocked a carbon tax. Wall Street oil & gas investors have blocked a carbon tax.
-> An example where the pricing effect of a carbon tax is more important than the tariff/revenue effects:
Six years ago, Dr. Tom Jaramillo (a young chemistry professor or post grad at Stanford U) gave a video presentation in which he discussed his approach to synthesizing chemicals that
the fossil industry markets: He seized on some obscure diene (diolefin, alkadiene), because it was very expensive. I don't know how that worked out. However, a carbon tax would make
somewhat more expensive synthetic versions of chemicals competitive with the legacy fossil versions … and aspirant young chemists might be incentivized to fabricate common compounds,
like methanol, methane, ammonia or hydrogen.
You woke now
Climate change is a stark reminder that humanity's greatest challenge is not in the will to live but in the wisdom to act beyond our own immediate desires, recognizing that the fate of the Earth is the fate of us all.🙃
Skyrocketing insurance costs, and the dropping of people across entire regions in the US by insurance companies, is going to drive many more Americans out of their homes than even all of the tornadoes and hail storms and fires and hurricanes and floods we are experiencing.
Brilliant speech
You will own nothing and be happy!
This isn't fiction. This isn't a made-up communist lies.
We have a heating and cooling period, and it's being intensified by human activities. I don't care about politics, I don't care about your personal views, we're living in the movie don't look up but for climate change.
Hold on. I thought it was illegal in America to have intelligent people like Whitehouse in the senate?
That's guaranteed the banks want your property that's always been the plan
Look at all the fuel being used in Wars, around the world, never a mention of that , when it comes to climate change. Building burning, petrleum plants being hit., ect , to vast to mention everything. Is War going to solve climate change , i think not ; moreover what about the cost of human life either side, ect. What a crock of BS.
Sadly Republicans have become expert at getting those in Florida and elsewhere to consistently vote against their own self interests and instead support the interests of the fossil fuel industry.
Keep fighting, Sen. Whitehouse. But I am afraid that without a blue tsunami this November all hope is lost for my grandchildren.
A price on carbon pollution (CO2 and methane) is the simplest and fastest and fairest way out of the mess we are in.
Why can people not understand this???
Thank goodness Governor DeSantis passed Florida's Don't Say Climate Change law, thereby eliminating the risk.
"Too Big to Fail; Too Big to Jail". "Only the little people pay taxes".
…yet nothing will be done. Don't worry anymore just hop in yer F-350 quadcab™ and go shopping! Please pass the organic marmalade and vegan butter because we are toast.
It is weather – almost shocking mascot for Miami is Hurricanes.
so get the government out of the insurance biz
Shut down every insurance company and let the people and lenders take their chances with disasters. Insurance is a communist policy. Climate change is a farce. What is scary is they have all bought into the insanity.
Carbon is the fuel of plants we need more carbon for greater crops and forests not less
Climate change is a democrat scam the ONLY crisis is in Washington DC
Gonna be worse in the US right?! Does that 40% emission reduction have anything to do with the conveniently closing of stores across the US?!
I reached $100k last quarter, which felt good but anticlimactic. You still keep working, saving and making good choices in an unstable economic environment. However, despite market gains, my portfolio has seeing great decline. I'm looking to improve it and maximize returns.
And what is Plan B, Sen Whitehouse? Because no Congress will REVERSE COURSE and stop subsidizing carbon sources [see IMF subsidies] and implement your recommendations. These have been urged for decades by citizens [see the documentary "Planet of the Humans", free on youtube]. No Congress has drafted a Bill to do this, or ever considered removing those longstanding carbon subsidies and imposing a price [' tax!!' ] on pollution.
Oh yeah. for sure! taxing carbon emissions will work! And then you add amendments and adjustments and crooked dealings in carbon tax credits and you get a carbon tax system that looks like our income tax system. Just as billionaires pay nothing, the largest carbon emitters will pay nothing and will get around rules to limit emissions. Come on! Sheldon! I expected better of you!
This Guy would be crying like a Baby if you took his food , air conditioning , heat , transportation , etc etc that's from gas oil and coal. He looks like He lives pretty large to me
Climate change is a hoax
