  1. Lots of money to be made from net zero' private companies investing billions into expensive green energy will want their money back with interest' and the bill payers will foot that bill' they won't be doing it out of charity energy will be a lot more expensive' it's another pfi scam.

  2. lol isn't it amazing labour not even in power yet and the media already held them to more account that the tories over the last 14 years in total lol nothing about the VIP lane cash… nothing about the oil tax that was allowed to be cancelled by loop holes lol or the mountain of debt and borrowing… well not until Labour gets in lol wait and see 6 months and the last 14 years of spiralling debt will be the fault of labour lol

  3. Isn't the cost until 2050 not in the next election. Once again major scare tactics as usual. The Tories signed us up to Net Zero by this date anyhow.

  4. The investment cost of any long term plans is going to be huge for every country – but not all money down the drain as it generates many jobs and services which drive GDP and increase tax revenue. The 100s of billion figure is projected overall investment all the way to 2050.

  5. I am dismayed that the Labour Party plans for a new publicly owned company called British Energy is not being likened to last time there was a company, publicly owned, called British Energy.
The following information is freely available via the National Audit Office.
“British Energy was the largest independent energy generator in the UK”, publicly owned and run.
“The Government sold its 36 per cent interest in the company to EDF Energy for £4.4 billion in January 2009.”
“The Department of Energy and Climate Change did not seek, and EDF did not offer, any binding commitment to build new nuclear power stations as a condition of the sale.”
“While the Government no longer has a direct financial interest in British Energy, it remains responsible for funding any shortfall in the future cost of decommissioning British Energy’s existing nuclear power stations. The Shareholder Executive did not carry out a formal assessment of the impact of the sale on the risks that taxpayers might have to bear if, for example, the new owner operated British Energy’s power stations in a way that required earlier decommissioning.”

Ed Miliband (Shadow Secretary of state for Net Zero and Climate Change) was in the cabinet – Jun 2008- Oct 2008 Minister for the Cabinet Office and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Oct 2008 – May 2010 Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. In summary, Ed Miliband was responsible for, and was involved in the decision, when the Labour Government decided to sell the last vestiges of British Energy to EDF.
There appears to have been no thought about energy security when this decision was made.
In reality it is highly probable that the Labour Government, at the time, was running out of cash and needed some money so took what was offered – EDF had the upper hand in negotiations.

  6. Starmer has NOT ruled out increasing inheritance tax, make NO mistake he will Rob 40% from your house via inheritance tax (so if your house is worth £400,000 your children will ONLY receive £240,00.)

  7. Going green will obviously cost more to all of us financially, compare that to the cost in humanitarian aid. To the Gammons out there, if we treat the environment more kindly & reverse climate change, the less “illegals” will have to come here, leaving their own homes 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️

  8. I live in rural Lincolnshire many in my area are on living wage £12-£13 an hour. A car is essential because there are no buses & shops etc are 6 miles away. All the people promoting net zero never mention at some point that all these low paid people will have to find £25,000 for an elec car & heat pump.

  9. The government legislates that manufacturers make products they want, they offer subsidies to do that. The manufacturer makes the products because they are being paid to.
If the private company gets money from the government, where does the government get the money?
Taxes and additional costs to energy bills.

  10. Government raises billions from taxes on petrol and oil. When we switch to electric cars what do they heap those taxes on if not electricity. Think your energy bills are high now, just wait. – Vote Reform.

  11. if business costs go up then they just pass it on to the customers. that's just business. so in the end the poor and i mean poor, tax payers end up fitting the whole bill for this cloud cuckoo land policy. it's all a scam anyway because it's just not achievable. as has been pointed out many times before, what ever we do is pointless. if the UK was wiped off the earth tomorrow
it would make not a jot to so called climate change. Co2 is 0.4% of the atmosphere, of that 0.4% 97% is produce by nature, only 3% is manmade, and that is manmade globally.
of that 3% of that 0.4% the UK i believe produces 2% it's mental to think that we can in anyway affect the climate. nuclear is the only way to achieve cheap reliable energy 24/7
which have no carbon emissions, we should've been building them decades ago. vote reform for common sense solutions,

  12. Net Zero, how to tax people for the Earth without getting anything back in return. The single most criminal policy that has made many a politician, extremely rich as a result.

  13. The U.K.'s electricity grid is dilapidated by European standards, and direly needs upgrade anyway – this isn't just a net-zero -related issue.
