  1. Peak oil is a myth and is a worthless metric. It doesn't matter the Rate Change of oil use, just the absolute amount of Carbon in the atmospher measured in PPM if peak oil happened in 1970 or hasn't happened yet were still at >400ppm and that's bad.

  2. There is no climate change incuded but humans. There is no climate change at all. There is just poorly preformed statistical research and huge hype created by the media and politicians.

  3. The real problem is that humans are undeniably stupid and self centered. We were all warned that this was coming back in the 70's, but no one listened because it would mean making changes to their lifestyle, and now people just deny that it's happening because they don't want to give up driving their gas guzzling cars and trucks.

  4. oil companies organized the misinformation since the sixties, and want us to blame ourselves ? don't you remember that oil companies refused trhe words of "getting out of fossile fuels" from COP agreement ? it seems likely that you are just one other of their many agents.

  5. Sabine is right here. In reality, nobody's to blame for the climate change. We as a species built this civilisation thanks to heavy use of fossil fuels which are used for transportation and also to make concrete, steel and plastic which are the building blocks of the modern world. Climate change is the unwanted consequence of all of this. So basically, to curb climate change we as a civilisation need to stop economic growth, and learn to live more humble lives. Are we capable of doing it? Absolutely not, when there's an opportunity to have a more luxurious lifestyle, one typically opts for that one. The only thing that will help us in fighting climate change is that are we're slowly depleting the fossil fuel reserves, and we will have to adapt to more simple lives, not by choice, but by force, basically we won't have the options that we now have.

  6. Just what the world needed – someone standing up for the energy industry who have been directly responsible for funding climate denialism and doing what ever they can to muddy the waters in order to delay action.
    Why make this?

  7. There is only one group responsible for CO2 emissions – humans. Oil companies don't emit the CO2 – that only happens when we CHOOSE to use their products, to heat our homes, cook our food, light our houses etc. If humans want to reduce CO2 emissions – stop using oil/ gas and coal. Simple – and nothing to do with oil companies.
    A few facts to consider;
    i) So called "fossil fuels" (a stupid term) have allowed the human race to create the modern World – without them, nothing we rely on and take for granted would exist. Just look around your World and remove anything generated from fossil fuels – including plastics, paints etc. Imagine even trying to make solar panels and wind turbines without fossil fuels – impossible.
ii) The vast majority of the earnings from the sale of fossil fuels has gone to governments, not fossil fuel companies. In the UK today, more than 85% of the price of petrol is tax and then the companies are taxed again on any profits they make.
iii). The profits that companies make doesn't go to the company bosses – the majority goes to the hundreds of thousands of employees. What's left (after tax) mainly goes to shareholders, of whom a large number are pension funds, charities investment funds etc.

  8. Sorry Sabine, but you're way off the mark here. The O&G industry isn't merely a passive entity who brings us fossil fuels. No, they are an active arm of US imperialism who work tirelessly and spend trillions of dollars to get and keep the entire planet addicted to their products. For anyone who resisted, well, see what happened to Iraq…

  9. I am very disappointed that you are an apologist for the oil industry. Much of what you say is true, but that doesn't mean the oil industry didn't lie and obfuscated and spend tons of money to deceive people when they knew better. There are some evil people there.

  10. If you say that this new found production in the US shows that the concept of peak oil is wrong, then you don't understand the premise of peak oil. With the shale oil boom, the technology and techniques were developed to extract oil and gas from the shale beds. But here is the kicker, the shale beds are the source rock for the original/conventional oil reserves. And when the source rock play is exhausted that may well and truly be the end of it.

  11. Svante Arrhenius figured out a reasonably accurate estimate for Earth's climate sensitivity (i.e. how much a change in greenhouse gas concentrations would change global temperatures) back in the 1890s.

  12. yeah… Big oil companies are angels and they should not be blamed… Except what they did and the arguments they manufactured to deceive the public and conceal the magnitude of the problem are still around today, and are still producing their expected outcome: inaction. So no, they have a huge responsibility in the millions or billions casualties to soon come.

  13. I normally love your science videos but this one isn't for me. If the choice was really up to whether a company wanted to destroy itself or destroy the planet seems justifiable enough to consider them at fault. It was never up to us unless we all revolted but it was a sick game of these companies knowing that no one wanted to lose these luxuries but to also make it harder for and renewable fuel companies to thrive and people to obtain said renewable energy was what really drove the point home. It's "our own fault" in the sense that humanity cannot overcome greed, even in the face of destruction, in that definition alone is where I agree with this video. Knowing that though, most of that fault still lies mostly on these companies for exploiting everyone for their own gain. Other than that, a mass of people, not just fuel companies are directly responsible for feeding lies and barring any sort of solution, while your regular joe is indirectly responsible because they practically have no choice to switch unless they can afford to do so in a world that actively operates against the proposed solutions or makes it difficult to obtain them. On top of that. even the most basic form of caring for our planet, recycling actually turned out to be a big lie. Most of the things people put in their blue bins still ended up in waste piles so you can't blame people all that much when everyone's just being lied to all the time. The only thing we're all really at fault for is not starting some revolution against all this, but can you really blame those that have little effect on entities that have as much money as fossil fuel companies do? If all of us stopped buying their fuel that's be wonderful but it's not as simple as that anymore thanks to their manipulation of evidence and monopolies. Makes no sense to blame people born into this mess.

  14. As a supposed scientist, how can you keep pushing the "human-caused" climate change nonsense? All one has to do is look at the satellite measurements of incoming and outgoing radiation! Incoming short wave radiation has been increasing along with outgoing long wave radiation. This is clearly not the signature of "human-caused" climate change! Go further and look at what has happened in terms of decreasing cloudiness levels. Again, this is clearly not the signature of "human-caused" climate change!

  15. The largest employer of geologists are the "fossil" fuel corporations.
They employ them to find crude oil deposits and gaseous deposits in Earth's crust.
The only other large entity on Earth that employs geologists are any one of the government entities.
There is really only one thing on earth that can support our massive population that is now growing exponentially… CRUDE OIL.
If you take away that crude oil you will see billions of human beings disappear.
We now know that solar panels and wind turbines are never going to deliver our energy needs.
No matter how great anyone battery might be it will never produce enough consistent energy to support our population.
If most of you who insist on fear-mongering all of us about climate change would actually tell the whole truth about batteries you would be fear-mongering all of us about how absolutely labor-intensive an ecologically dirty it is to produce today's technologically Advanced Battery Systems.
But we all know that you will never do that.
This leads all the rest of us to believe that all you're trying to do is to influence the global marketplace and sell us a very expensive battery that is inferior to any fossil fuel burning device that produces electricity or that provides DEPENDABLE transportation.
Sabine, why don't you try explaining to your audience of 1.43 million regular viewers what's going to happen when any one of the government entities that are now pushing the climate change conspiracy theory stop subsidizing EV production and sales?
I know for a fact that you will never do this.
It's because you will be canceled on social media because you told the truth.
The vast majority of the scientific community is either employed by the corporations that need for them to find what they sell or by government entities who want to tell everyone how bad those same things are.
It comes down to just one simple principle with respect to the anthropogenic warming theory… INFLUENCE.
There isn't one meteorologist or atmospheric physics expert on Earth that can truly predict weather out past 10 days.
At this point in human history there's only one way to get an idea of where weather might be going in the next year. El Niño and La Niña decadal climatic oscillation.
The Indian and Atlantic Oceans also have decadal climatic oscillations that will give weather experts an idea of where whether might be going in the next year or two. But nobody truly knows for sure.
Sabine, the information that you Muse about here on your YouTube channel is really no better than the 5:00 news.
When it comes down to the final moments of your life and you are laying there knowing that your end is near, hopefully people you love will be by your bedside.
Will you be able to look them in the eye and say that you always told the truth and all you ever wanted to do was to help people?
The only thing that you can take with you into the Afterlife is love.
Don't you want people to admire you for your accomplishments in your life?
Some of the poorest people on Earth of modest means are some of the most truthful people that you can ever meet in your lifetime.

  16. Climate change is all natural. CO2 already has a maximum effect since some wavelengths are already totally blocked. That means that more CO2 has no more blockage since it's all blocked already.
And climate is controlled by convection, not CO2. We know, for example, that the moon is above boiling in daylight, but the moon has no CO2. Here on Earth, we never get to boiling because hot air rises, rises up into the cold troposphere. That means convection keeps climate normal, and so we never get to boiling or absolute zero.
Also, a reall greenhouse has glass that prevents convection. But the Earth has no glass. And so, convection limits the "greenhouse effect" and totally prevents any greenhouse effect.
In conclusion, blaming CO2 for climate change is silly. Natural cycles and convection control climate. Wake up Sabine, climate change is a scam.

  17. It's not man made global climate change. …. and the cause is greed; governments will not give up oil because of 1. greed and 2. power/politics (can you imagine what would happen in the middle east if they stopped powering up with oil?)

  18. So all of the governments of the world would have taken all the oil away from their militaries, industries, roadways, airlines and populace if the oil companies had only fessed up to what they knew (and replaced it with ?????)? The oil companies bear absolutely no responsibility for this. Dying nations would have forced the oil companies to produce maximum oil output. A lot of very naïve comments on this video.

  19. This lady has skewed perception and understanding. It's Dunning Kruger syndrome…doesn't know that she doesn't know, yet she presents like an all knowing teacher. Of course the fossil fuel companies share an inordinate amount of blame for the climate catastrophe, which will soon do us all in. They have known their products posed an existential threat since the 60's and they spent billiions spreading disinformation and deception. The "world leaders" are also to blame. Dr Carl Sagan and Dr. James Hansen warned the US Congress and the US President Reagan that fossil fuel emissions were an existential threat. The billionnaires, the bankers, and the economists and their delusional perpetual growth economics played an out sized role in our demise. The ordinary people are least to blame but yes, even the ordinary people own their share of the catastrophe.

  20. I agree Sabine, one should not blame someone else but her/himself. The fact is extracting industries do not pay for the true cost, all this time they are spoiled by these false profit margin. It s just facts.

It s really my fault I was born in Indonesia in fossil age. I had to take buses with dirty pollution to go to school. Perhaps it s also my fault didnt get a job in petrochem companies, they pay sooo well.

  21. THIS IS ALL BULLSHIT!! FOSSIL FUELS OS NOT CAUSING CLIMATE CHANGE😂😂😂😂 I HAVE TO BE AN IDIOT TO THE 4TH POWER TO BELIEVE SUCH NONSENSE..😂😂😂
THE DEMONIZE BECAUSE THEY WANT TO SWITCH TO ANOTHER ALTERNATIVE MORE $$$$ POWER AND CONTROL
